I haven't been in a gen2, but I've done a couple of longish legs (one 14hr and a handful of 9hr) in the TRD OR. Probably one of my favorite road trip vehicles, except for the idiot that wrote the cruise control logic that locks it in 4th when you touch a hill while traveling over 70mph. But, overall, better than the 99 camaro, 06 Malibu, 2015 rogue, 2016 frontier, and 2016 cx5 (listed from shittiest to better) in long trip quality. I could see the seats bothering SOME folks in that amount of time, they never really soften up.

You think the fake leather seats are bothering you? Or just the support and padding?

Ride comfort is completely subjective. I notice no difference between my 2015 and my friend's 2016. Then again, I find cars with firm modified suspensions to be comfortable...to each their own. You just need to swing by a dealer and test drive it. No amount of opinions on the internet will tell you if its comfortable or not for you.

Of course. But asking for impressions doesn't hurt.

I do agree that this all subjective and we each have our own aches and pains as we age, but the seats seem more designed to look cool than ergonomic. Lack lumbar support. Againmore noticeable on longer trips and not atall around town. Solution is easy. Couple more rest breaks and I'm in no hurry to get where I am going. No matter what Tacoma you choose you will arrive in a damn cool truck that is probably the best I ever owned.
