In 2003 I sold my 1986 4x4. I got $2,800 for it. It had original red paint in very good condition, leather bucket seats that I swapped in, BFG ATs with over 50% tread on them, all new brakes, clutch, clutch slave and master cylinders, rebuilt transmission and engine with less than 20K miles, rebuilt front end, alternator, starter, new radiator, hoses, blah, blah, blah and just under 200K on the whole truck. I had tried to sell it for 4,000 before the engine rebuild and nobody even came to look at it. I had intended to keep it but decided I was tired of working on cars and sold it. That was eight years ago. Have these things gone up in value?

I miss mine. I think if I was looking for one like it and your's was running very well, I might pay 1,500 bucks for it. I'm sure you could hold out for more than that, but it's a long way from the rust free, runs like new truck that I sold for 2,800.

Yeah I miss mine too. She was a turtle on the mountain passes, but always reliable. Never stranded me once. But there are two things that weigh on vehicles .. miles and time. Mine was pretty low miles at 168k. But still she was 24 years old. Engine and tranny were still fantastic. But you could see the little things creeping up. Great shape for the age though, and this being Colorado, there's a fantastic market for old Yotas. So I probably could have held out for $3500 had I really been willing to wait. I originally Craigslisted at $3500 but kept having to refresh the ad as hits were few and far between. Once I was under $3k, hits really began to pile up. $3k was definitely a sweet spot.

As for yours, OP ... I can't imagine paying more than $1500-1800. What other people are saying is true .. you never get out of them what you think they're actually worth. I could have easily driven mine for another 5 years or more. To me, she was worth $5-6k. But you gotta get what you can take, right? So start Craigslisting at $4000 obo if you want, and see what you get. Then drop weekly from there. But my money would definitely be on an offer of sub $2k.

If it were a 85 or older I could see 3k running. My questions is what tires and wheels will you put on it for sale? If you get it running and nice wheels and tires you could get 2k easy (too bad its not the sfa tho).

Good luck let us know how it goes.
