You're gonna love the LCE header. :)
It dropped the peak torque on my 2.7 by 650 rpm on the dyno.

It is. No spacer could ever match the mechanical advantage of gearing.

My Day job sucks so $176 it is:), you only gotta sell 500 of them minus the suckers already paying sticker price. Check is in the mail!

Had you considered starting your own business doing something that you like to do? I got laid off in the last big recession in '79 and started a small business doing something I love doing instead of drawing unemployment. That decision changed my life, because I still work in it today.

In figuring profit and loss, there was something I neglected to enter into the ledger, and that's the value of the prototype spacer already running on my engine now.

    bth_IMG_7158_zps382f48bf_470167b2d9535c55719949550597915032085963.jpg

If I had bought it for $225, that only leaves a net R&D cost of $275. Right at the beginning is always the heaviest costs. Figuring the first run of a dozen, it's $1560 to make them, $288 for gaskets, $96 for mounting hardware, and $156 for shipping for a outlay of $2,100. Plus the $275 net R&D, that totals $2,375 before there is any return on investment.

Microbusiness is a fascinating concept. It's just like big business, except on a really tiny scale. ;)

There is also a real profit beyond dollars and cents. It's the payback of already enjoying the benefits of the product right now, as well as the personal satisfaction of having created it. :)

I've been working for myself since late 90s. I don't advertise and don't charge enough for my service so my paycheck is small. I have lots of free time and end each day with a clear conscience so the payoff is great.

Any interest in sponsoring another one for true life on-road testing comparison? I could do a full run of tests at different throttle positions with acceleration numbers to show what it does in 'normal' driving instead of just full throttle numbers. This spacer could turn into a business income on it's own!

Oh, sorry. When you said work sucked I mistakenly assumed that you worked as an employee for someone else. I totally agree with your payoff as having genuine value.

    Thanks for your offer. :)
I'm going to stay with the hard numbers of SingleCabGuy's drag strip timing slips to show either better or worse results. Since he's already been running his truck, he already has logged a reasonably consistant performance profile, so it'll make an excellent comparison when he runs the spacer.

While the spacer is not likely to produce any real income because it has a very shallow market. However, but it does have very good prospects of paying off the R&D and productions costs. So that's what I'm shooting for...to break even. :)

I also want to say that anyone who drives their truck with this spacer installed on the engine and is not completely satisfied that they are getting more than their money's worth of low rpm torque is free to return it in clean undamaged unmarked resellable condition for a full refund. And all they'll be out is the return shipping cost. I'm willing to offer this guarantee because I already know the difference it's made in my own truck, and am confident that others will be just as pleased with it as I am right now. :)

Hey man this is for a 05+ 2.7,I'm pretty sure the 2tr and the 3rz (pre 05) are way different intake runners.....

Hey Navy... just found this. :)

Paradise Racing makes an intake manifold flange for the 3RZ FE that could be used as a spacer. They appear to be about 3/4 of an inch thick. And at $199 plus shipping cost puts it right in the ballpark. They had a half price sale earlier this year through March where they were only $99 each. You might ask them if they'll still offer a discount if you buy two of them.

These have to be aluminum because the rest of the intake manifold is also aluminum and would hang unsupported directly off of the spacers.

No one should be stuck with something they're not satisfied with. There will always be someone who expected it to make their engine into a 4.0 who will be let down. It can't do that because it's only a passive bolt on part, so you just account for that by letting them return it and then sell it to someone else. But you will definitely feel the difference when it's installed from when it wasn't. If it didn't actually make a real difference on my own truck, it wouldn't make any sense in trying to pretend that it did just to pawn it off on others.

That's the advantage of dyno testing and actually driving with a prototype first... before any others are produced. So what if it doesn't work? There isn't one cent wrapped up in production. That's simply the end of the experiment. :)

Hook me up. I have a 2010 Reg Cab 4x4 with 265's instead of the 235's that came on it and I live in the mountains, therefore, mine being geared like it is and being a sluggish cow from the factory and all stock, I think this would help me tons.

    What do you think ?

It won't help you tons, but it will help you some. I live and work in a canyon where all the roads are steep, so I'm always crawling up and down them in first gear, and the spacer definitely helps, but I think you'd get better performance than any spacer could offer with some lower rear end gears.

Instead of regearing, I went from 245/75/16 tires to equivalent stock diameter low aspect 235/60/16's, and the difference was night and day.

I've been following your progression Greg and I feel like this is a pretty sweet mod. I have a regular cab PreRunner that I often have hooked up to tow my small Boston Whaler. I would be interested in trying your spacer on my truck as well.

You can put me on the list!

Did you ever check the bolt pattern on the 4.0 tb? Might be a nice mod to make the 2.7 really shine with your spacer.

Because of work I haven't had a chance to make it out to the auto wreckers yet, but that's at the top of the list. Toyota is notorious for standardizing parts dimensions, and I'm counting on them not to let me down. :)

If the bolt patterns are the same, my plan is to have a throttle body spacer made up similar to this one...

    IMG_7017_zps66a9ad63_413e2b56e21204ff66b66bf371e189530028a3f2.jpg

...that will smoothly taper between the larger throttle body bore and the stock manifold intake. If the bolt patterns are the same I can simply have the bolt holes go all the way through and use threaded studs and nuts. I'm running an oversized 55mm Corolla 1.8 throttle body on my Yaris 1.5 and the throttle response is superb. :)

    IMG_6630_zpsba837ffe_facebe9f0d991796ce37d738439eccab6e734261.jpg

    IMG_6637_zps7f06afda_2b96b74b9aba0e5ca4f49964fa26aca886d823b3.jpg

The drive by wire electronics are standardized which makes the Toyota throttle bodies plug and play.
