Looking into setting up a day trip upto Lake Tahoe with mild trails that PreRunners are capable of (ME). I do not have much knowledge of what's up there so if anyone can chime in and give ideas/locations it would be great. Also I would like to see if we have a decent amount of participants before making the commitment.

There's a few. But I wouldn't plan on a May trip just yet. Most the trails up here are gated seasonally. None of them have opened yet. Typically it will be either May 1st or June 1st.

Genoa Peak and Logan House Creek trails are totally prerunner doable. I run them in 2wd all the time. Personally I think they are too easy. Kings Canyon trail used to be prerunner friendly till the landslide. There's one part now that you can't get over unless you've got 4wd, sliders and 33's. Rigs with 35's can squeak by without sliders, but prerunner isn't gonna cut it.

On the other side of the lake is Barker Pass Loop, Mount Watson, and Martis Peak. Martis could probably be done in a Corolla. Can't speak to the other two, but based on my book's description should be completely doable in a prerunner.

I did parts of Barker a couple years ago. I think you'd be able to pre-runner it. Go with the 4WD crew and you'd be fine.

Do you really want to drive to Tahoe to do a 2 hour trail?

There's a lot of stuff back there. Could turn it into a 1/2 day or even over night.

    Ellis Peak for example.

How difficult is ellis peak? I hit the first mile or so from the lake side last nov and it was fairly snowy. Had to turn around due to a tire puncture and a hill that looked nasty with the snow cover.

It's only about an hour up I-80 for me. If you have any other trails or ideas that would make a better trip feel free. Nothing's set in stone yet. Just trying to get suggestion/head count before committing

I made it. Tight in places, mostly this:

But there are spots it's a bit tougher.

Not sure if its PreRunner friendly, one of my friends with a Heep said he ran Poker Flat in 2wd. If we had too though I'm sure we could help you out with tow straps and such.

Either way I'd be down for a day trip.

Someone bump this thread May 1st and I'll check the gates on my side of the lake to see if they are opened. Shitty snow season, so I imagine they will open them.

That said, it is government controlled so who knows.

Also, my book shows Blackwood Canyon/Ellis Peak as a "moderate" trail, which is normally the indication for stock 4wd truck capable, 2wd challenging.
    It's described as:
