The Ayer ought to be great for you. Good luck with your purchase! TW member Box Rocket can get you a discount on Tepui gear, so be sure to check with him if you're not joining a group buy.

I purchased mine around this time last year, but there was a Tepui sale later toward Christmas that would have saved me more $$. If you can wait... keep an eye out for deals around Black Friday

Not sure if I'll have enough funds for both the rack and RTT by Black Friday unless they both turn out to be really good deals. Last night I read in the RTT thread that you can order tepui tents from REI and wait til they have their 20% off sale for members.

Too much to list, but enough to get me in trouble. Repeatedly.
In. Unless I can convince someone around here to take it on (so far everyone has run away screaming in terror)

I'm not sure I follow... you mean bolt-on like the pack rack linked in the OP? The topper racks have the option to have them welded together from All-Pro or provided as a kit that you weld together yourself. These topper racks, once welded together, are installed on the truck under the topper mounts. They aren't welded to the truck and can be removed. Sorry for any confusion.

I don't know yet if we'll have the numbers to make this happen. Still haven't heard any news form All-Pro :notsure:

Yes instead welding it together to assemble the rack, can they make it as a bolt it together as you assemble it?

Question for everyone that likes this setup. Why a Softopper with a rack? Doesn't the addition of a rack defeat the convenience of being able to collapse it and having unlimited height use of the bed?

    Thanks.

THhis is the reason why I want a bolt in option so I can easily remove the cross bars on top

Makes sense. I want to build something but it needs to be easy to remove/reconfigure if I need to put something large in the bed. It's the only reason I got a Softopper vs a hard cap. For me I would have a hard time justifying the Softopper with a rack vs a hard cap (other than it looks cooler).

Yes and no... I like the setup for a few reasons. It's easily removable by yourself unlike a hard shell and rack, and it's cheaper than a hard shell and rack. The topper can still fold but you're right, the cross bars limit height in a few places. I like the idea @madsand has with it being bolt on. When I was toying with the idea of fabbing my own rack I wanted to make the top bars removable. That would be an ideal setup for me, but I couldn't pull it off with the tools and material I had access to.

I think BAMF made a custom rack that came apart in two pieces that I liked the looks of. Not quite a bolt together rack, but close.

A bolt together system is way easier to remove on your own and store. Add that to the Softopper that just folds out of the way and you've got a really decent system.

@Mobtown Offroad If you build it, they will come.
