More like taxing to buy, then taxing again to carry the gasoline. I think safety plays only a small part. It's always about the money. Welcome to taxachusettes.

I see Tranfer Flow has a larger replacement tank for the Tundra but not the Tacoma. I would be more interested in replacing my existing tank with a larger one than loosing bed space.

I got a response from Transfer Flow today. I may need some with a 2nd Gen Long Bed to go by their facility so they can take measurements. If so, I will post a request in the "California Owner's" thread and ask someone near Chino to drop by so they can take measurement.

Ideally, I want my fuel/tool combo box to wisely use all the space in front of the wheel wells and the top lid not be above the bed rails. I may decide to add a tonneau cover in the future, and it would be nice if this combo box could be concealed/hidden. Not to mention, I didn't want any weight from the combo box resting on the bed rails. Appx. 30 gallons of fuel (200 lbs) plus 50 to 75 lbs of tools slated for the tool box. Thoughts?? Input??

I'm still waiting for a response from RDS. Will post when I hear back. Thanks!!

    Hey everyone,

I finally got a response from Transfer Flow & RDS Manufacturing today. Very coincidental that both responses occurred within 18 hours of each other.

Anyways, I gave each of them additional information on what I would like to see. Specifically, I told them, that it is my opinion that the UWS low profile tool box is the most popular tool box because it doesn't block the rear window and it fits nicely into the bed. Additionally, I would like them to add 20 to 30 gallons of fuel storage in the base of their design with an internal fuel pump that could deliver fuel to dirt bikes and ATV's pulled up along side of the truck. Once I get some sketches and more feedback, I will update everyone again. Any thoughts or input from anyone at this time?

    Thank you!!

Sounds like a cool idea man! I already have a toolbox and its pretty full so I dont think this sorta thing would work for me, but definitely a interesting idea, especially for those who are around engines of some sort all the time. Good luck!

I'm interested as well. Keep us updated. After lift and larger tires, the already poor mpg's of our trucks get a piss poor 350+/- miles to the tank....I've always wanted more....

I got a call from RDS yesterday concerning my request. It's finally on their "radar" and they need an 05+ Tacoma Long Bed to take measurements. Is there any forum member near Perry, FL that can visit their facility so they can take measurements?

    Ask for Linda Wiles.

    Thanks!!!!

I'm with you on this. I'm looking into the same thing. i find lots of Full-sized setups, but not much out there for the Taco.

I'm looking to install anywhere from 30-50 additional gallons. I'd like to be prepared for serious range in case a major shortage occurred. At this point i'm starting to think a full-size truck might be a better way to get what I'm looking for...but I love my Taco. I'll post whatever I find you guys don't have info on, and would love to get in on a group buy if we find something we all like.

Yeah, whatever happened to this? I don't own a Tacoma yet, but I am in the market (trying to wait to see what the 2012s look like) and an aux tank is definitely something I'd be interested in.

    Hello Everyone,

Sorry for the delayed response. I've been e-mailing back and forth with RDS in Florida & Transfer Flow in Chino, CA. RDS seems like a mom/pop shop...even though their website states they will do custom work, when I spoke to them, they were unwilling to even consider this project for the Tacoma.

However, I have continued to exchange e-mails with Transfer Flow in Chino and they tell me that this project has "finally risen" to the top of their "to-do" pile. I need to find someone with an 05+ longbed in the Chino area that can go by their facility so they can measure/model the truck bed. Next, they want to set up a "poll" or link to their website or on FaceBook so they can "gauge interest" on this project before moving forward. I will need everyone's assistance when this "poll" is set up. I am only a member on this forum, but think we will need help from the TTORA & other website members to pull this off.

Now that this is coming together, I will post more frequent updates. Thank you all for your patience and continued interest. DD

Start a new thread with that request in the subject line, I'm guessing not everyone close enough in CA will be checking out this thread.
Cool idea, I just bring a couple regular fuel cans but this would be way better.

I made a post in the S. Cali regional forum and have had a few responses. Starting a completely new post is probably a good idea though. Let me get the "measuring" coordinated....then go from there. Until then, anyone interested, please subscribe so I can push traffic to the online poll when Transfer Flow begins soliciting input. Thanks!!
