Trying to resurrect this thread. I need to reconnect and re-energize everyone that is interested in this project. Please reach out to the other forums with Tacoma members. I have someone lined up to meet with Transfer Flow to take measurements...but I need reassurance that interested parties are going to share this with others when Transfer Flow posts a "poll" to check interest.

    Please let me know.

sub'd. I read most of the posts about how this has progressed. I'm interested (have been since I make frequent trips to cali and the gas here in El Paso is about a dollar less)
Im leaving the army and headed home, paperwork is still in process.
Im due to be home in about the next two weeks if no one has gone to the shop to get measurements yet I will go. I have an 08 DCLB and am very willing to see this follow through!

I am definetly interested! I have been in the market for one for a while now.. In fact, before reading this, I have contacted Zylstra who makes the FuelBox in Visalia, Ca. They said they will do custom orders, just need the interest.

I don't care what company builds it, at this point I just want one that I can install

At this point I am simply looking at adding a fuel cell for a hotrod to the bed and plumbing it in. Living in the sticks and needing premium I would love packing another 40-80 litres of fuel.

I've been meaning to post about this:

    http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/73665-Custom-35-gallon-gas-tank-for-09-Tacoma

I was the second customer (ShortBusAdventure) to have this tank installed. Best mod ever! Now I can go almost 500 miles on a tank. They are currently building these custom to order, with the hope to ramp up production. They are looking to possibly get a group buy of sorts together to get the price down.

They would like to see what the demand is.

    Here ya go!

    Tank back from powder coating.

I had Custom Exhaust add a lazer cut logo on the tank that is visible in the rear wheel well.

Custom Cat Delete/Y pipe exhaust. This is not necessary to fit tank. Some exhaust modification is necessary though. You can also see the drain installed at the corner.

3 Straps mount the tank, using the stock mounting locations.

Aluminum skids were built for the tank, and a transmission skid was built to connect the fuel tank skid, and my Asfir front skid plate.

I'm interested, wasn't this tank built in oregon? If so, where at and cost? I'm in NW Oregon, if we can generate interest maybe we can drive the cost down.

The Tank was built by (CES) Custom Exhaust Specialty in Bend, Oregon. They are a high end fabrication/custom car shop.

This was stated by another customer:

"My experience with CES is $1,800 for a tank with powder coating plus a 3-4 day installation charge with whatever accessories are needed (aprox $700-1,000 more). The installation might seem expensive but it it is how CES makes sure that everything works.

This is no way a quote if you want a real number call Shane at CES."

Shane (the owner) is hoping to get the price down, and tanks fabrication time down, by having the pieces laser cut. He is getting the venting parts in bulk, and detailed instructions made. I believe someone with competent mechanical skills could do the install.

    Hope this helps some,
    Kevin

Ok, is there still any movement on this. I live in San Angelo Tx. and there apparently is a transfer flow installer/dealer @ one the local dealership's here in town. I have been researching aux tanks for gasoline ( bed/tool box) since I got my beloved Tacoma. 2008/SR5/Prerunner/Access cab. I would love to have this become a reality. How can I help?

When I contacted TransferFlow and RDS Mfg (both companies that design and build tool/fuel combos) neither company expressed interest in building a tool/fuel combo for the highest selling midsize truck. The best solution that I have determined is the custom tank from CES in Bend, Oregon, and a toolbox in your bed. This is the best of both worlds, but it will cost you $2500+ to make it happen.
