These are the thule nuts that fit in their tracs. They have allen nuts you can get as well to fit those nuts.

I'm in the works in getting a Snugtop Rebel with Yakima rails...are these rails similar to the Thule rails? Just wondering how you would fab a rack for my future setup if you don't have Yakima rails to design from. Maybe I should have them put Thule rails on there?
Would the design of the shell rack make it so that the rack would be level with your roof rack?
How much weight do you think I can put up there? I plan to stick my 33" spare tire up there (shell rack) at least. I would guess that your racks weight capacity is more than what the rails/shell can handle.

Thanks again Zach, that's awesome. Very much appreciated. And yes, will get pics up ASAP after installing it. Need to get a few coats of bed liner on it this weekend so hopefully by Monday it will done. Think I'm going to go the roll on Herculiner bed liner route.

Then have to figure out the next project, installing my ARB awning and roof basket on the rack. Very excited, this rack is exactly what I was looking for.

The roof rack would be level with the rack for the shell or extremely close. I can't guarantee it will be exact on every shell because I can't get out a physically measure every shell. My understanding is that the yakima and thule tracks are actually the same. Either way the rack will mount to the tracks using thule or yakima tracks. I just said thule cause that is what I have.

The limiting factor in weight for the shell rack would be the shell itself. If you get a reinforced roof then you can carry more. You would have to look at snug top's specs for that. The rack itself should have no problem supporting anything that should reasonably be on the roof.

Your rack is all ready to go and I will be available in the morning. I am actually staying with some family in centerville. Also, I degreased and threw some primer on your rack while I was working on some other things so all you have do is coat it.

Zach, question about the rubber molding for the roof channels.. In your plans did you intend that the rubber molding be cut into sections & re-installed between the mounting points/feet? Or the channels left open & exposed? I am removing the oem rack to install the new one & realized that I don't have the molding strips on there. Something I hadn't thought of before. Will the mount points be sealed with the rack installed? Thanks!

Regardless of whether or not you use the weather strips I would plan on using some silicone in the mounting holes to ensure a good waterproof connection. If you have the strips you can cut holes to fit the spacers or you can leave the strips out completely.

Looking forward to seeing some more pics. Thinking about swapping out my OEM rack for this one as I like the low profile look. Is anyone planning to mount a basket to it?

I am planning to mount a basket to it. It's a stingray low profile roof basket from discount ramps.com. The basket came with ubolts and brackets which more or less worked out with the oem rack bars, so hoping a couple of the basket cross bars match up evenly to the new rack to be able to utilize them.

I am going to remove my oem rack & mount the new rack today and will definitely get some pics up ASAP. Also hoping to mount my 6' arb awning to the new rack as well. Been a bit tricky devising a plan but think I have a good solution using some galvanized stell L-brackets and bolting them to the new rack.

Ok, got the rack installed!!! A bit trickier than I thought it'd be but very happy with the results.. Looks really good!! Wasn't able to get the basket & awning installed as I ran out our time, hopefully soon tho..

FYI Zach, I did have to drill a couple new holes in the rack as the pre drilled ones didn't match the factory holes on my roof. Also one new hole in the roof since one of the factory holes was a bit striped from my previous oem rack. Was only able to get one screw in total on the passenger side rear foot. But super solid, I am very impressed with how sturdy it is. Thanks again, I am very happy with it!

Glad you are happy with it. It looks great. I like the look of the changes better than the first (guinea pig) model. Thanks for pointing that out about the holes. I am going to probably just leave all racks un-drilled so people can make the adjustments themselves. I have test fit these racks on my truck, and one other and now yours. Basing the hole location off my truck it has been off on both your and the other which leads me to believe that my roof holes are a little off. Thanks for posting the pics!

OP it looks like a carriage bolt is being utilized on the rack? If that is the case (or if it isn't) couldn't you just slot the feet where the holes are to compensate for the differences in tacomas hole location? I don't think it would even have to be the whole foot? Just an idea since I know most will want a more finished product to bolt on and go! I have an OEM rack and it was a PITA to mount because they were not perfect.

    Nice pics Jesse!

Zach - Any way you can make the holes longer? So that there's some play to mount the bolts.

    edit: that's what I meant - slotted
