I can feel the transmission on my 2002 MT much more than any other vehicle I've driven, typically honda Accords and the like. Obviously very different vehicles but i guess sometimes i feel like i shouldn't be feeling the transmission as much as i do. I've driven it 10,000 miles since purchasing, changed transmission fluid to Redline MT90 right when i got it. Probably just paranoia but feel like i should see what others think.

I think it's normal. I drove a couple MT coupes before getting my 1st Gen and it took me awhile to get used to the difference. Those coupes were buttery smooth in comparison, but thats comparing a FWD manual car to a RWD manual truck.

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
Just how bad of a vibration ??

Just a slight feel or so bad you watch the shifter shake and the clutch pedal moves that you notice.

anything on the dash will bounce off ?

It might be a few things just all combined causing what you are feeling .

does rpm have any effect? Neutral or in gear??

it is 100% of the time.

There are a few stretches of road that it feels like the transmission is going to fall out.Just from the refinished road surface

    Good Luck

The feeling is the hum of the transmission. It just feels like I'm resting my foot on the transmission when i have my foot on the pedal. That feeling is much more hidden or not there for the MT vehicles I've driven in the past.

You have to remember that the FWD manuals use a shifter cable/cables, and the shifter is mounted to the floor of the car and our truck transmissions the shifter is mounted directly to the tranny which then goes into the cab of the truck. The noise that you hear is the operation of the transmission.
I have the Marlin Short Throw Shifter in my Tacoma and it was loud until I used some rubber heater hose and zip ties to wrap around the lower part of the shifter to dampen the vibrations and it has been working well. Do you have a stock shifter or an aftermarket shifter? The stock shifter has rubber in the stick to dampen the vibrations from the tranny.
