Every forum for every vehicle is going to be filled with people mentioning the issues they are having. Go get on a Chevy or Dodge forum and report back to us…

Oh my god, then you have all those social media types pounding the absolute fucking crap out of these trucks with no catastrophic engine or transmission failures. Then the hyper sensitive posting and complaining about the simplest vibration or minor defect.

I don’t understand the discrepancy between the 2. Almost 2 million of these things on the road. Most popular Tacoma ever. Mods galore. Tacoma media everywhere.

My 3 year old truck has one issue. Drivers front centre cap. I’ve been waiting for a replacement for months. Apparently a backlog. That’s the only issue. Been a fantastic truck so far. Even better cruising off road. I expect that I could have a serious issue one day but that goes for any mass produced vehicle. Clearly this vehicle is not for everyone.

Since you are tuned, what fuel are you using. Lately with the 10% ethanol my 89 tune doesnt like 89 as much. I had to pump 5 gallon of 93 for every 15 gallon of 89. Especially the winter blend.

My Taco's quirk is a high pitch whine that it makes for a second when you first level out on the throttle. I have a manual transmission.

Were you ever able to get more into the Flex lockup control? The TCC is controlled by SL1-4...

Sorry, lazy to type see attached. Based on the description of torque converter lock-up, we don't have access to tranny control unit (as far as I know) to modify flex lockup control and full lockup.

    Yeah...I've read that before.
I always assumed that referred to full lock only, since there is no mention of the TCC. The FSM is good at obfuscating 'flex lockup'.

    Excerpt from linked article:

"The clutch application and release rates are directly controlled through the commands given to the SL1-4 solenoids."

    https://gearsmagazine.com/magazine/the-toyota-ac60e-simpler-can-be-better/

I guess if there's no manipulating the TCM, why bother monitoring.

Yeah, I've seen one mentioning of flex lock in the sm without any info.
I monitor it since tune days when we figured how to not drop 200 rmps in 3rd on the hill. Also some tunes were taking advantage of smooth acceleration by turning slu off and cause the temp 2 sensor go high.
