I'm one of the jackass people that checks tracking like a million times a day. It's painful when stuff is on the slow boat.

Figured. I want bead locks so I can safely air down. Once I buy my arb dual compressor that is. Which is whenever I win the lottery...

For the price of beadlock rims you can get standard rims, tires and a co2 tank. Unless you are going to be doing crazy shit I'm of the overkill opinion.

I air down to 15-20 and haven't had an issue. If you get bead lock wheels make sure you get DOT approved. If you have an accident or something due to a tire deflating if you are running non DOT approved beadlock wheels you could be in deep and be held liable and your insurance not pay etc. so just be aware of that.

Well I'll either get those SR8's or buy some FJ Steelies to thrash on. The steelies are loads cheaper.

You really only need bead locks if you are going down lower than 10 and running some bias plys. I wouldn't worry about it unless like @Juforrest said you are going to do some crazy stuff. With the 144" WB you won't be getting to crazy. Plus always carry a couple cans of starter fld with you and a spare or 2.

My plan was to have a full set of street tires and a full set of offroad tires so I don't ruin my DD tires. The bead locks wouldve just made it cheaper to swap since I'd only need one set of rims, but if I can find a cheap set of steelies then that would be fine too. (other than air down)

Have you ever switched tires on bead locks?

No but I've switched tires on regular rims and thats a PITA. I hate breaking beads with a tire hammer.

At-least with steelies, if I bend the rim I can just bend it back though.

Bead locks are a pita also and you can't really take them on and off like you are thinking. Plus there are seals so that they hold air. Just KISS get a set of nice wheels for the street and some steelies for the trail. Or do like me and look at them as material objects that are replaceable and if they get some trail damage oh well.

This is why I bought rims that were cheap. The thought of messing up some SCS wheels makes my wallet hurt.

That's why I went nice used set so when I go out I don't worry about them. Plus I am not a huge into cleaning my truck like some guys are after they wheel etc so it stays dirty a lot.
