lots and lots of midwest dirt in there

the oldest dirt is St Louis/IL/Kansas City
got some Canadian and Michigan dirt
Iowa dirt of course NE KS MO
MN WI IN SD ... have not made it to ND before this
TN AR ... a couple hours of MS dirt that is old and buried in there
then we got some sprinkles of CO UT WY ID MT
    that may be it

it did spend plenty of time in snowstorms with snow and ice piled high on the liner until melted and slid on out

even found this critter growing under there
it was determined to be seeds from a neighbors now defunct cotton trees they cut down maybe 5 to 10yrs ago
... seeds found their way into the tie hook openings and tried growing their own dirt

I have had to push my truck before too!
... once in awhile I do not pull far enough into garage and close the g.door fully, did not want to start er back up you know
released hand brake, pushed clutch in with my hand, put into neutral and pushed it in several inches as needed and secured the brake and back into gear

somebody just mentioned naval jelly to dissolve surface crust, then primer/paint
first time I have heard of naval jelly
    has anybody used that product?
    https://www.loctiteproducts.com/en/...atments/loctite_naval_jellyrustdissolver.html
not sure if it will also remove the original paint that is good still

i can tell you what does work, sandblasting with glass bead media, but its messy and dangerous
... thinking of picking up a bag of soda media at harbor freights to see if I get the same result for easy crust removal without all the after mess of the glass bead stuff, it made my driveway look like a beach!
soda media is supposed to just dissolve and wash away relatively easily

Hey I am in Minneapolis as well. In regards to the Krown/Fluid Film; do you DIY or have someone local do it? Trying to decide how I want to do mine soon.

? it won't be too much of a hassle to remove this FF from the nearly naked frame (there is a good coat of Eastwood after blast zinc coating) when the weather gets good for several days in a row to finish spot blasting and then primer and paint

I gave up on trying to keep the fluid film on the open surfaces, I just spray the cracks and cavities. I wash 2-3 times a week in the winter so my truck is 99% salt free all winter.

I do the touchless wash at holiday. I got the unlimited pass, and they just installed a brand new wash down the street. It does a pretty good job during winter, but in summer I like to hand wash every other weekend.

i am going to be under the assumption that this special frame mod with the application of zinc phosphate coating underneath some heavy primer base and a delicate hand-brushed topcoat of Eastwood extreme chassis gloss will provide better protection against this from happening, even though i regularly hosed down this area for 22 years, for some reason it just started creeping behind the paint.

i am going to put blame on Chicago or Milwaukee for infecting me  at some point during last decade

under halogen light it sure sparkles...
    IMG_9694.jpg

i foresee major headaches when i gots to remove that fuel tank
hoping somebody on TW can pitch in a hand  mechanics are wanting multi hundreds of dollars to remove and reinstall it
