Used them few times due to all the salt and snow and today I felt a drop of water from the moon roof. First time owning a moon roof also so now I am down a rabbit hole reading that either they are fine or horrible for my precious taco.

I want to use my own pressure washer at home when it isn’t freezing out and winter but for now options are limited and trying to maybe not mess up a truck I genuinely love. Thanks for the guidance.

I washed my last 4Runner (with a moonroof) in a touchless automatic without leaks for years. One drip might not be anything to worry about.

Shouldn't leak. Have it looked at, it's brand new.

That said, shouldn't matter how you wash it. If it can't handle a wash, it can't handle rain/snow.

The drip should have landed in the tray... not sure why you were able to feel one.
On our highlander, I wipe the seal and mating surface with silicone spray a few times a year. I've convinced myself it helps.
Drive though touchless carwashes every couple weeks. Don't ever feel drips in the car, but I have seen it drip into the track when the jets pass over.

i am wondering if the high pressure just forced in some how. I also really shouldn’t have called it a drop more of I very slight feeling of water particle. Very suitable, almost to the point I wondered if I felt what I thought I felt. Didn’t know if the spray was just strong and maybe vibrated the seal open momentarily. I don’t know first moon roof and love it.

I have a 21 Limited and use a touchless wash almost exclusively. I've never had any water intrusion. However, I have seen the pressure of the water push down on some of the rails in the moonroof.

I'd have it checked out for sure. A new truck shouldnt leak regardless of what type of wash is used.

Every once in a while the touchless will hit the moonroof in my Camry just right and I'll get what amounts to some small, pressurized water particles that make it through.
Been that way since new and doesn't leak under any other circumstance.
10 to 1 your dealer isn't going to find anything wrong with yours.

I once took my wife’s Sienna through a car wash. The sunroof was partially opened but the inside cover was slid closed.

Felt one small drop as I was leaving the car wash, so I slid back the inside cover to have a look and got completely drenched.

I have been taking my taco to touch less car washes since June and no problems with leaks from the sun roof or third light like some have had. Finger crossed for now.

Also check track and drain hole for debris. Had an 02' GTI where I had to run a wire in the drain tube to clear.

I've never use automated carwashes including "touchless". Even touchless carwashes will damage your vehicle's finish over time as they use VERY Harsh chemicals and recycled wash water.

As far as moon roof leaking goes, I've had my '18 TRD Sport for 3.5 years and have sprayed high pressure water on it many times during wash and it's never leaked.
If no issues found after checking it out good, you might want to take it back the the dealer. Should be covered under your 36/36,000 BTB warranty.

the one I went through uses 6 downward facing nozzles that shake the hood and sunroof glass when it passes by. I think from now on I will rinse it off with the hand wand only. As mentioned I just worry a lot and have deep desire to keep my pavement princess happy lol.

If there is snow or ice on moon roof or cold out outside, water will condense on the inside glass and drop on you.
