People will disagree and say that the sunroof should be able to handle any amount of water in any circumstances possible. If its leaking and overrunning the drain track with just rain or a garden hose that is an issue. But if your using a pressure washer its going to cause leakage, some carwashes jets are extremely high pressure to blast off all the dirt/grime, its just to much pressure for the seal to handle. If you think about it the window and door seals are very different from the sunroof seal which only seals by being squished in place with a relatively small motor.

Biggest issue for sunroofs is the sunroof track drains get clogged with bits of leaves and debris thus the water cannot drain and spill over into the vehicle, just like if you flush a towel down the drain then the water overflows into the house.
I would recommend not parking under a tree to start, if possible blowing out the drains at least once a year with a small blast of compressed air, in addition open the sunroof and apply a light layer of silicone spray to the seal to keep the rubber from drying out and cracking.

Like a previous post said, just open the roof and inspect the seal, if all looks good then it was probably a fluke. You're gonna test that by washing it again but if there is something wrong there is a good chance you'll see it when you inspect it. Also make sure the glass is seated all the way when it's closed, no debris obstructing etc..

I didn’t consider that but it also kinda makes sense. I do have the shade open and like to watch the water spray.

Yea but even with the high pressure you'd have to hold it in a certain direction very close for a longer duration of time and technically, that shouldn't leak either but it does happen. With just running through a quick wash similar to a downpour it shouldn't leak. Just take it in, they will check it out and thb, they should just replace it if they find any amount of water inside. Be prepared to lose a day though. Maybe you can talk them into a free loaner. Usually for something like this, at least my dealer, would give a loaner no questions asked.

Toyota tech told me a little water getting past the seal is normal as long as the drip channel can handle it, can you post it you bring yours in for service and give you the same excuse

Have the moonroof as well multiple times id go out to the truck and find my floor mats with water on them. For the longest time i thought it was the moonroof but it actually turned out to be the oem stupid roof rack. Was leaking from both sides where they had drilled in the roof for the screws. They was a couple centimeter gap between the screw which aloud water to come through. After they sealed it I never had a problem. Take it toyota and they figure it out for you
