1st challenge may be finding parts.

2nd is skilled labor and color matching/blending.

    3rd is proper reassembly.

So no one can really tell you how long. But arrange for the insurance to provide you a rental car.

In my experience 2 months just to get into the shop. Then another 7-21 days of labor. Figure 3 months minimum.

Just had mine in shop. Parts took almost 3 months to get. I drove it until parts were all in. Yours looks drivable. Once in shop, I would say they will have it 3 to 4 weeks. Remember you don't want them to rush through it.

Still has to have new fender painted. They will have blend into door, and hood for it to be done correctly.

Just had a very similar accident, I was hit on an intersection where I had a green turning left and the other person had a red. about 2m to getting it to the shop and working on it now (which I'm fine with) and there is more damage than meets the eye. Just find somewhere you trust.

The other person's insurance sent you some place? They can't tell you where to go, that is illegal. Do some research and ask around and go where you are most comfortable. I would start with the local Toyota dealer and where they send work to get done. Also, don't let anyone use aftermarket crap, insist all parts be genuine Toyota.

I don't know a thing about CA insurance laws or regulations, but it is a distinct conflict of interest for the insurance company to steer you towards any body shop. It's in their interest to get the work done as cheaply as possible, including using aftermarket parts if they can get away with it.

It is common practice for insurance companies to send you to their shop for an initial estimate. This is the benchmark for the insurance company. You must do this. You are free to take your truck to any repair shop afterword, though. For charges above and beyond the initial estimate, your chosen repair shop must do a little paperwork, but it will be approved. All repair shops are accustomed to this process, don't worry.

This must be state specific. In MA the insurance company will send an appraiser out to look at the vehicle and write up an estimate. The company will use that to decide if they want to total or repair.

Once work starts a good body shop will go to bat for the customer when supplementals are needed.

It’s my understanding that it’s insurance company specific, not State specific. Many insurance companies no longer use adjusters, and use a benchmark estimate instead.

Yes, that's how State Farm did mine
I pick shop, but that shop I picked is on State Farms preferred list. Didn't know that when I picked them.

I have Allstate insurance in California. Any time I've ever had a claim, I deal with MY insurance company, that's why I have full coverage. THEY deal with the other party. When they recover their $$ from the other party, I get a refund on my deductible. It's a process called subrogation. Allstate gives me a choice.... take it to one of their recommended shops & they will stand behind the repairs for life, or take it anywhere I want & they will pay for it.... once.

I always SMH when I hear of people dealing with the other person's insurance.

Fortunately, it's been a while since I filed a claim. The last repair we did I just went to my body guy and paid cash. Since it was a hit and run while she was parked, it wasn't worth filing a claim.

I agree. That's why we have insurance companies. I have Amica, so there is no insurance agency, I deal with them directly. Anytime I've had a vehicle claim, I've called them and they took care of dealing with the other company.
