Before anyone blasts me: I have used the search feature and found some input but want more.

People who have removed the fender flares to paint, dip, bedline, etc. What was your experience? Worth it? PITA?

I've seen a lot of mixed reviews and I'm really wondering if the people complaining just didn't know what they were doing. Thanks for any input. linked threads are welcome.

Aren't they just held in with plastic clips? Shouldn't they just pop off?

Seems that simple to me, but I've seen a ton of posts of people breaking them and getting frustrated. That's exactly why I wanted some input.

Probably because they're pulling them off by hand, go get yourself a nice trim tool and you should be fine

you can pull them out as carefully as possible and still will break a couple. nothing to get frustrated about it. NAPA has replacement clips for like $3/Bag.

Really? Both types? That sucks if so. I broke a few of mine. I think the orange ones were 8 bucks each or something like that.

Be very careful pulling them off. Unless you really can get them at napa. Even with a tool you'll break them. On mine I was removing the liners so I could reach behind and I clip each one. Even doing that one still broke. :(

yeah. Im not home right now to take a picture of the part number, but yes. bring a clip to NAPA and they can pull up the replacement. they are way cheaper than what the dealer wanted.

I think OP was more concerned about breaking that actual fender flare, If only the plastic clips break, its a good day

Definitely the bigger concern. Good to know I should go ahead and order some clips too though.

Oh yeah the flare isn't going to break. I man handled the first one and even broke the headlight clip. Flare was fine. :)

Just watch out on the very front of the front ones. There isn't a clip instead it's a molded clip. I broke both of mine. :anonymous:
