I'm close to losing my shit on these things. Doing a search, some said to just rip them off and the plastic rivets will break. My luck, the flare tabs will snap off.

Can I just pull the panel to get at the rivets easier or are there fasteners behind the flares? I have to fix the passenger side metal anyhow.

It's pretty hard to get those little buggers off without breaking at least a few of them. They get old and brittle.

Just order a set from Amazon or something. The box I got had more than enough to do all 4 fender flairs.

Make sure the blue ones go where the blue ones went, and the red ones go where the red ones where. They are slightly different shapes...

Yes. Don't order these thru Toyota unless you want to mortgage your house to pay for them.

Yeah, I noted where the blue and red ones were. The passenger side front blue one held firm and busted the fender flare attachment point. Sumbitch!

@jbrandt I don't want to put you out or anything but what set did you order? I haven't looked for them yet bet every plastic rivet I've ordered from Amazon for this twat has been wrong.

And after a long four years (closer to five) of sitting silent, this thing is so close to getting back on the road and in the mountains.

I know the k&n I have isn't any better but does anyone know where the OE intake pulls air from other than the engine compartment and the dirty ass wheel well?

It was ages ago since I ordered them, but I'm pretty sure it was these:

it pulls air from the wheel well, hence the tube :)

You'd be surprised, the fender line does a pretty good job of sealing out a lot of junk. I've seen second gen guys who remove their fender liners when they cut their fenders for bigger tires, didn't relocate their intake inside the engine bay and damn near hydrolock their engines in small muddy crossings. No bueno.

I'm not sure those are appropriate.

The blue and red colors are rather important. They are slightly different shapes, and I've read that people who don't go my the color coding have a hard time getting the flairs to attach and line up properly.

Those are supposed to be for the door panels. I asked the guy at the auto parts store if he has a reference chart for those clips. They dont

They were selling 2 packs of those clips for $3.99

So I just went home and ordered some. Have no idea what the color signifies.

Looking at the panels, it pulls from the wheel well, a little from engine bay and a little from under the front window. It's not terrible if you are mostly on pavement. Back when I had the factory intake, the summer months I would go through filters like crazy but I was off road a lot cause ya know, these things are TRD off road.

The k$n Hot Air Intake I don't notice as much dirt which is probably bad. Yes, I oil it. Maybe I'll deck plate the OE intake and rig a filter to it just for fun.
