55774284-0489-481D-96F7-81A66AA867BB.jpg I just put a set of rough country defender fender flares on my 22 sport. Has anyone plast dipped the rivets on the fenders? I could order black rivets but rough country says I need to take the fenders off to replace the rivets which is something I really don’t want to do.

I bought the truck used and the previous owner had bushwhacker flares installed but one was cracked. When I took them off I found that they scratched the paint(first picture) and they could not be buffed out. I had to get oversized flares to cover the scratches. My plan is to eventually either paint or wrap the flares.

In order to complete the look, you may want to consider attaining black overlays for the chrome Tacoma door emblems and installing black lug nuts

Yeah I’m going to plasti dip the Tacoma emblems. My next upgrade is wheels. Trying to decide if I want to go with bronze or white wheels and then figure out what color lug nuts to use.

I would pull them and have them painted. Their gonna have to be pulled for it. I doubt they would wrap those, or you would be happy. Lot of contours and tough spot to get wrap look good.

I like the look, and thought about doing the same, but afraid that during winters here in the Chicago region, salt would rust and ruin the metal rivets, and it would look like crap sooner or later. I do like the Army Green. My neighbor just bought a 4-Runner, in the same color.

    damn, that poor truck.
Unless you have some honkin' ass wheels/tires, most aftermarket wheel flares just look awful.
Can you get OE flares to cover up the original owner's mess? I'd look at that.

Nope OE flares were not an option because they were about 2 inches shorter than the flares that scratched the paint. My only options were rock the scratches, get bigger flares, or repaint all 4 fender panels.
I have the factory TRD lift installed and will be upgraded to 285/70s and a more aggressive offset wheel.

Bigger tires with an off-set will change the appearance of those fendys.

    Just my opinion.
