At least you were not dealing with mis-painted bumper from Toyota factory, I had mis-painted bumper with two 4" x 0.25" spots of black paint on my quicksand bumper. That was taken care of with a replacement bumper. And now I've just noticed the loose adhesive, looks like they didn't glue it properly when they replaced the bumper. Will see dealer tomorrow.

ive got separation on all 4 flares of my off road. definitely not as nice as the second gen flare set up. the separation is just a nice place for water and dirt to sit. I will be bringing it up at my 5000 service coming up next week.

Update on this...had it in the dealership on Tuesday for low tranny fluid for the second time (reverse to drive issue which now seems to be fixed) and they ordered the parts for the flares from Toyota. They list about 6 different parts. Told me for sure the tabs that hold them in place will break when they pull it off to repair. Parts weren't listed in their catalogue yet, so they had to call Toyota and get them added, after that they ordered them. They will have to pull the pieces off the assembly line and send up to the dealer. He said that could take about 5 weeks and then they will send the truck to a local body shop to get repaired. I'm ok with that, dealer had one look and said they would get it fixed and actually pointed out another spot on the passenger side bottom rear that I hadn't noticed before. So they'll fix that one too.

Same thing here, they have to order a new set of flares for me, both left and right fronts.

i got a good laugh from this thread.

wait. isn't it against the TOS rules for TW to not chase your service manager down with torches and pitchforks when there is something wrong with your truck?

    Pittrider:

My dealer has ordered the parts for me since April 4, they have the fender itself with clips here, but they don't have the seal/adhesive. Has your dealer received any?

My case is different since my dealer had to take the fender off to swap the bumper, so they had to get the replacement fender for me since the removed seal/adhesive won't stick.

No, still haven't received the parts yet. They told me they will send it out to a body shop, so maybe they would have adhesive and not have to wait for Toyota to supply it.

To close this off, after waiting months for parts to arrive due to back orders, my truck finally went to the body shop today to get the new flares installed. Turned out the clips weren't fully attached, so fix was just pushing the flares fully onto the clips and no new flares needed.

Which model Taco do you have? It appears to me in the pic that your flares are more flush to the fender unlike the TRD OR where mine are more like a flare that stick out from the fender. So far no issues with my flares.

It's a Limited, think they all attach the same but IDK for sure.

Hah. As soon as I saw this thread, I was going to say this. I got in an accident and had fender/bumper replacement done. On one flare there was some separation, so I took it back and the tech took a peek under, got back up and gave it a push. 'Snap' and no more gap. I think the OP was made before my accident though. Sorry I couldn't save you some time.

Morning guys. I swapped my original white flares (which had also separated from the body) for another TW member’s black OR ones. I reattached them with new clips and double sided 3M tape, but that tape is already separating from the body. Do you think I should run a thin bead of black silicon along the top of each flare? Or can Toyota fix this at my next service (even though this is a reattached flare that I did myself)?

    Thanks all.

I wouldn't run silicon on top, you wouldn't be happy with the looks of that. I'm guessing Toyota would charge you, since you did swap, but doesn't hurt to try...
When you reinstalled, did you clean fender & flare with alcohol pads, and use heat gun for extra adhesion?

Hello mate. You're probably right about Toyota charging me (my fault after all) and thanks for the silicon advice. I was a little uncertain about it, just thought it might be a good idea. I do have my 5000 mile service pretty soon so I'll ask them about it then.

As for the install, I did clean the bodywork up with a good wash and some alcohol, but I didn't use a heat gun to warm up the body. It was a warm day when I installed them (maybe 68° ish) but perhaps that wasn't warm enough to get the adhesive to work at its best.

Really dont want to redo the flares but I know this will annoy me for ages if I don't.
