I tried searching for links on this subject. Brand new 2019 taco, should I buy black fender flares or have them plastic-dip? I would have to reapply in about 3 years don't I? Any good recommendations?

What trim package do you have? What are you trying to accomplish with your fender flares? Protection or aesthetics?

I am just trying to break up the cement color. I will never take off road. I have the sport ted 2019. I just like the looks of the black fender and badges. first pic is mine and 2nd is what I would like it to look like but I want to do it right. Not have to keep applying. Or get the fender flares with rivet look is even better but I don't want to drill.

If it were me, I would Plasti-dip. It's easy to apply, cheap, and reversible.

Plasti-dip them, that way when they scratched or dinged up, you can just recoat. Don't put those ugly pocket flares on.

What is average to pay for plastic dip? I got a quote for 250. Is that a fair or good price?

I would just Plasti Dip them. If you don't like it you can always peel it off. If you decide you don't like the plasti dip look and still want black flares, you are out like $5 and can still go buy black flares.

I think most people do it themselves. It's really not hard to do. $5 to $7 a can, and you could probably do it with 2-3 cans.

On a related note, do you have to use primer with Plastidip ?

    Work in progress...
If you are going to plastic dip the fender flares then experiment with different colors first. Everyone has black fender flares, try, I don't know, bronze etc; maybe match the wheels? Oh and get the mirror backs while you are at it.

I dipped mine on my MGM taco. I retrospect, the contrast between the black and MGM isnt as much as a thought it would.

Iwas thinking of plastidipping my flares too when i dipped my chrome grill and and tacoma letterings. Im not too sure of that idea yet lol i wanna see a Sport trim that has it dipped first in person...also you dont need a primer for plastidip. Just make sure its super clean when you apply it, and on closed area cuz if u so it outside and its windy, youre gonna get dirt stuck on while its drying

I would have them done in Line-X or Rhino Liner and know they will last and not fade. Plus you get a life time warranty. Had mine done two years ago for $200 and they look like the day I had them done. Plus durability wise you'll be better of than plastic dip which in my experience tends to chip and peel easily.
