I am putting some wider tires on my truck and thinking about adding fender flares, how do I know which ones to go with? I have seen then from $90.00 up to $700.00 with no real differences pointed out in the descriptions. The only notable differences that I can see is the actual loo, the name brand and the price? What should I be looking for?

All aftermarket fender flares are for looks only. The only functional aftermarket fender flares are the ones where you replace the whole fenders. But only get those if you have long travel suspension with 35s+ tires.

I don’t know what your Tacoma looks like, but my dealer has a white truck with these Bushwacker pocket style flares and the truck looks sweet

That is sort of My overall quandary :) I can't see any real difference between the hundred dollars sets and the $700 set. I was just wondering if there actually was one or if you were paying for brand name.

    This is false.
I had bushwackers on my truck and they were not just for looks. It helped hide my fender trimming which allowed me to run 35’s.

My hopes are that they will help keep rocks from being thrown out of the wider tires I'm going to go with from hitting the body of the truck. I just can't figure out the insane price range because the descriptions for them are all virtually the same.

What does buying an OR have to do with needing fender flares? The sport and or are pretty much the exact same truck, the need for flares.is larger tyres and wheel spacers not truck model

Doesn’t seem like a cheaper route compared to bushwakers especially if you paint the glass.

I’m considering them to stop the dirt and rocks flying out at speed of light. Did you find a good deal on yours. I agree they are stupid expensive

I’m curious as well. Hard to justify the price for plastic flares. Similar with safari vs Dobson snorkel no difference other than a logo but with a $200 cost difference between the two

Yes. Amazon warehouse “open box” $250 IIRC. I don’t think I could spend full price and then cut them up.

Did they go further down than factory flares ? Or you’re talking about cutting them for bumper ? How do they attach to the fender ?

Yes the stick out a good 1-2” past OEM. I cut them higher up. Which removed all the mounting points(underneath) so that is why I drilled holes in the metal and made them real bolt ons

I went with less expensive RDLs. So far so good. Comments range from I get love em, and I get hate em. After having them about a month I ended up liking them more and more, and now I truly prefer them as they give more heft overall. My son loves them, my daughter laughs at them, my wife just nods and tells our friends she doesn’t understand any of this.

The reason I chose these was the stock had a bump out that provided less clearance for larger tires.
