Anybody who has a fender mounted CB antenna can you post some pics. I cant decide whether or not I want to get a CB, HAM or Marine radio for the truck. Where I'm from we all used marine bands for bear hunting but I've never had a CB and want to see some fender mounted whip antennas. If you post, would you please post specifics and let me know what radio you are using as well? Thanks!

    You mean like this??

Firestik side body mount and Firestik 36” antenna that is 1” below the top of the front radio antenna. Used for CB...SWR in this setup was 1.6 in channel 19.

Most everyone has switched to the VHF marine radios for hunting. Especially in the mountains of Virginia. CB's are not as popular as they use to be. Got a wilson 1000 mounted on the front hood and fender area with the wilson fender mount brackets they sell. Heard they're not going to sell them anymore so get one if you can. Wouldn't be very hard to make a 1/8" SS bracket anyways. Will take a few pics tomorrow if I get time.

I'm talking about this one. Pulled this off google. 9/10 guys who run a wilson around here have this set up or mag mount on roof. If you want to run a firestik or others they make other fender mounts I found on google images.

Again as someone has said - Marine radios are illegal to use on land. Violators are subject to a fine and/ or jail time. All it takes is one complaint to either the Coast Guard or the FCC to cause an nvestigation. Call either to find out the truth before investing money in one. And I would not be admitting use on a public forum.

I wouldn't put a heavy cb whip in this spot because there's too much flex in the sheet metal. Id be afraid of the body tearing over time. One of those ditch light brackets would be perfect

I’ve seen hundreds of truck with the Wilson 1000 on the hood/fender mount. No problems with two of my personal trucks and I’m not easy on stuff. I wouldn’t put a 102” steel whip there obviously. If you’re off-roading I wouldn’t mount anything right there. If you were to somehow hit the mount it would tear some stuff up bad!

Just picked up my 08 still deciding upon where to put my 2 radio, galaxy 5000, and a panasonic ham radio. Still in the process of grounding all my panels. But thinking (if swr if good) doing a bumper moount for the wilson.

looking to get a procom antenna and mount it on a kalibur mount on the left front fender and then use the firering coax so i dont have to worry about it interfering with my fender when i open up the hood. Anyone still have input?
