tie between Decoration Day and When the Pin Hits the Shell. . . . they will still give me the chill bumps sometime. . .and they are both fun to play. finger picking decoration day sounds identical (to me atleast)

i wish. that's the kind of money i plan on spending on my D-28 in the distant future. . . . funny story, my dad blames himself on SRV's death. he said he had never really listened to him until his friend made him some tapes of just SRV music. dad said he listened to it for 2 days non stop, then the plane crashed the next day :(. . . i have grown up on SRV though that's for sure.

Isbel was awesome and was a tough loss, but I think they are really smoking on this tour right now. I caught one already and hoping for another this fall. I really dig the new album though! Glad to see your a fan though

yeah i'd like a les paul one day, but i can't ever bring myself to selling a guitar and it's the brand thing there, i just wouldn't want to buy an epiphone, and you cant find gibsons in the price rang i have. . . . and i've played tele's and strats many times, is it really that big/bad of a difference in your opinion and why?

I have a 1958 Les Paul Reissue VOS and a 60th aniversary Fender Strat. They are both excellent guitars but I prefer my Les Paul any day of the week. The one thing my strat has that the LP doesnt is a whammy bar which comes in handy every once in awhile if you like that kinda thing. The action on my LP is alot better imo. Also have a fender acoustic 12-String which I am in love with.

    I love this thread.

Ok if your more of a country fan best song is Panties in your Purse or Love Like This, if you want a rocker get Women Without Whiskey.

Nice choices JG I get the chills on about every song on DD. As you can see I am a Cooley fan!

I agree I had a "Stellar" Les Paul as my first electric and I put some seymour duncan 59's in it and that thing I would say sounded better than my strat and a close second to my Gibson LP

I mean i just dig their overall sound, not really genre specific. Cooley sings Daddy's Cup and Where the Devil Don't stay doesn't he? . . . (i remember they had like 3 guys that sang). . . and if you dig them, check out who was their opening act (so similar) and one of my favorite bands American Aquarium. The name throws you off, but they are awesome. that same americana rockabilly sound, though theyre a little more country. From raleigh nc actually, but that's not why im bias. i own all their albums and they rock!

(damnit, im derailing my own thread )

ok i hear you all there. thanks. . . i just really need to get my game on in terms of pickups and all that. i feel like a 12 yr old asking all these questions, but i really am a guitar nut. i just don't know shit about electrics it seems. . . . and yeah im starting to lean towards the tele now too some. . . . . one other thing about me though is i like to play lead solos and stuff like that when i play with my friends and in my head i think strat a little more. i play teles and i hear that big tone and those old country songs (which i actually love), but im still indecisive about what fits me best.

(interpret what you want out of that. reading it over it doesn't make much sense i admit haha)
