Anyone else feel a crunch sensation when applying the brakes? It’s not a pulsating feeling like a warped pad nor is it the ABS.

also rough slow downs due to the truck shifting down?

Being a first time tacoma owner the only i notice thats been different with the brakes from previous owned trucks is when you tap on the petal going down a steep hill the truck automatically downshifts to fourth, or to the next gear from that. Otherwise all is normal.

How many miles on the truck? Yes it will downshift when the truck slows.

If I recall it took me a few months to get used to the brake feel when my 2016 was new and I've have four Tacoma trucks before this one. I also had a 4runner loaner for about 4 months due to some warranty repairs and when I got back into the 2016 it still took me about a week to familiarize myself with the brakes compared to the T4R.

It's not that they're bad but it does feel a little different until you get used to it.

It might be the different brake booster in the OR that makes it feel the way it does i my case.

I've hit the abs when braking on ice....don't really like it. I prefer to brake and steer my truck the old school way i'm use to.

What vehicle are you coming from?
My brakes are fine. Get them checked.
