Hey everybody, bought my first Tacoma. Traded my Titan in for one...lol Well
I have several questions about them since I come from a previous Nissan owner. Now I looked around and if anyone can point me to a good thread that would be great. And im sure some of my questions belong in other sections but, here it goes..also my truck is a 08' TRD sport double cab 4wd 6spd

1st my truck has 94k miles. Is there anything I need to look for? or replace? Truck runs and drives amazing for that kinda mileage.

2nd does anyone have any recommendations on fluids? Coming from owning a few Nissans they also had specific fluids for t case and tranny. My Toyota manual just calls for generic fluids. I prefer Amsoil being a mechanic so I would runs Amsoil in everything. Tranny, tcase, and diffs.

That is really about it for now. Planning on doing a lift once I get all the fluids done and any maintenance that needs to be done. And thank you for anyone that helps. I feel lost owning a Toyota now

Welcome to the forum from Northeast Arkansas and congrats on your "new to you " Taco. IMHO, I would go to this website http://www.toyota.com/owners/web/pages/home and register with your VIN and you can access all dealer and if the previous owner did his or hers own service and posted them, you can find out what kind of services in the past this vehicle had done to it, then I would probably change the drive belt, service the rear and front diffs, make sure the driveline has been greased, I bought my 09 DC 4x4 V6 with 92,000 on it and it is pretty tight for being driven on gravel roads and still runs pretty peppy for its mileage. Enjoy parking with ease, I traded in on 08 Tundra, and love how easy it is to park in these small parking areas.

Awesome! Thanks for the responses. Yeah I just wasnt sure mainly about running certain fluids in the tranny and tcase. But, I should alright using Amsoil in everything then. Serpentine belt is new and I also asked the dealer for any service records and they had very little. And the coolant appears decent looking..it is red which I believe is Toyota's line of fluid??

Check your brake and power steer fluid and plugs. Some things a lot of regular people forget about.

Redline Mt-90 for the transmission and Tcase. Nothing beats it for improving the shifting. I also run Redline gear oil in the diffs. Lowest temperature under load that I have found. It's not as critical if you aren't towing or hauling. Amsoil manual transmission oil would be my second choice for the trans and tcase. I'd stick with the Toyota coolant. It is pink. Coolant is due for change at 100K. Don't neglect that just because it looks good. It needs to be replaced. If your throttle body and MAF have not been cleaned, I would add that to the to-do list. There are tutorials that help at the top of the page. Since you are a mechanic you won't have any trouble with any of it. For oil many of us are using Mobil-1. The Toyota factory oil filters are the ones to use.
