Have owned an 84, 88, 97, 2007 Toyota trucks...they all were great!!! My current 2016 TRD sport is starting to feel like a total piece of CRAP!!! At 6700 miles the "smart" transmission is too rough and irratic to know when to shift! The engine has very limited grunt. The driver side a-pillar assist handle is missing...a constant source of irritation!!!!! The lower "A" suspension arms produce whistling sounds at speeds above 35mph. FINALLY, the factory tri-fold toneau has more leaks than a sieve.

    OP Welcome to TW.

Your post appears like a troll; hence some of the comments.

Lots of info if you search on auto tranny issues. I have a post on a 1500 mile trip. Basically the auto tranny crazy shifts when using cruise 70 mph and above. The engine is sluggish to meet EPA and consumer demands of trying to be like a hybrid. The 3.5L engine has LOTS of power, but needs the rpm to get it. Throttle response is poor as the power band curve is designed to be ECO friendly, so RPM is really low and with the high rear end gearing means low end power is sluggish.

I have the crazy shifting driving posted 75 mph when going up a hill or even an overpass when using cruise. NOT using cruise it cuts about 80% of shifting issues, but is silly to NOT use cruise on a $40K truck. If I drive at 70 mph and NOT 75 mph, on a 220 mile trip I posted it went from shifting 100 times to only about 4 times. The power band and gearing just make this Taco struggle at higher speeds.

I have TRD OR 4X4 AUTO with 11,000 miles, dealership went through my Taco last service for all these issues. I get average 16 - 18 mpg .... taking it easy. The auto functions like it is designed; the engine power is not there at the 75 mph range.

People have posted the Tonneau cover has some seals that can be installed/replaced and Toyota has recognized problems and now has a different cover. Another post details the howling. I miss the handle too, but it saves you a few dollars on the purchase price (sarcasm). :annoyed:

Make sure the tonneau cover clicks down in the back. Then it's waterproof

    Push down at each corner

Just go to this thread if you want to continue the redundant complaints

I'm only pointed this out because joining just to complain doesn't help get you help or ideas on your new 2016.
I'm on toyota truck 10 but haven't made the jump to 2016 yet only because of Dave Ramsey.

Cause it's not humorous anymore after someone starts a new one of these threads every other day.

OP, no one cares, we've heard it all before, now go buy a Jeep.

Wow, you guys are brutal. I get why, it's the redundancy, but maybe the OP has never been on a forum before. he buys an expensive truck thinking he got the same Toyota quality he has experienced before and is grossly disappointed. I feel his pain as I always trusted Toyota also for their top quality and reliability over the years. But the guy is feeling terribly ripped off by a brand he trusted, first post and all you can do is call him names and rip him a new ass hole? Like I said, maybe he's never been on a forum before. Cut him some slack and kindly redirect him. This is one of the most immature forums I've ever been on. You guys are showing your young ages for sure. Flame me if you like, I don't give a shit.

Agreed, except not the part about this forum being the most immature....there are a lot of helpful, practical, down to earth guys and gals on here. I just avoid the 3rd gen and some off-topic forums, because that's where the negative ninnies seem to congregate. First and second gen forums are cool, I've asked a lot of questions there my first month here and got a lot of help.
