Dude, I know, what a pain in the arse. It'd be different if I wasn't relying on this thing for daily transportation and had down time available, but unfortunately I gotta do all this stuff on the fly. From everything I've read and seen online so far, I should have the 4:10 in the rear on that thing. It looks pretty dern stock (from the outside, so that prolly don't mean shyte) so I'll keep my fingers crossed and get a direct replacement (whether I trade or buy rebuilt).

If I ever get the chance, I'll gut an axle and plasma cut the back out, modify a clamshell and tap the mounting holes, then put it all back together and see what the dizzel is. I feel like I could do that, I love projects like that. Of course I'd make a custom gasket to fit as well. Man that'd be SWEEEET!

Well, if that was really important to you, then sell the yota and get a jeep
There are advantages to the third member design.
    - drain and refill is just like in your crankcase (very messy job on a jeep)
    - tedious work on the gears and lockers can be done on a work bench
    - a diff could be carried on the trail as a swappable spare

Thought I'd say that I got me a newer e-locking diff and will be swapping it out next weekend. Also gonna replace the shady tranny mount tomorrow as well. Anyway, that about wraps this thread up!
