    Hey all,

I have a 2013 TRD sport running a 3” lift, 275/70/R17 on the stock wheels with 1.5” spacers. I want to remove the spacers and purchase rims with that same offset. The spacers are hub centric from custom offsets but after getting my tires balanced i still have a wobble in the steering that im pretty sure the spacers are the cause of.

My question is, do i purchase a wheel that has a -40mm offset which is roughly 1.5”, or do I calculate from the stock wheel offset which is +30mm. If I am correct, to achieve -40mm from the stock spacing, that would be a wheel with a -10mm to -12mm offset?

    thanks!

You got it. As long as it’s the same width wheel as your current one.

Although if your factory is 7” wide which most are you will be hard pressed to find a 7” wide -10 offset. A very common size is for what your looking for is a 8” wide 0 offset. I’m running a 17x8.5 -10 w/285/70/17

Awesome! Thanks for the info. Out of curiosity, are you running a 3” lift with a longer upper control arm or any cab mount mods to fit 285/70 tires in the front?

I have the same setup, +30 offset stock wheels and 1.25" spacers. 3.5" Icon lift, SPC UCAs, 285/75/16, no cmc, no rub. This might help: Allows to you punch in your current wheel specs, including spacers, and new wheel specs, and see exact dimensions on what changes.

If you're looking for a certain amount of tire to poke out, it will come down to the tire size, rim width and then offset or backspacing. Do you plan on going with a wider wheel?

The first picture is a 285/75/16 tire on a 16x8 wheel with 0 offset (4.5" backspacing)

The 2nd picture is a 305/65/17 tire on a 17x8.5 wheel with -10 offset (around 4.375" backspacing) so the wider wheel and wider tire push it out a bit farther but the offset is almost the same.

You might consider several factors; offset/backspace, wheel width, tire size and SHAPE. My KO2’s are more square in shape. A larger tire wall and different tire brands might give you a mire round protruding tire wall. Some brands like Method Wheels compensate in the wheel factors, example: Same wheel with two options - an 8.5” wheel has a 0 offset, or 9” wheel has -10 offset. Mostly, look at photos that have the look you desire and inquire about their set up. Best wishes!
