    Point in case there.
Before I purchased my first Nissan Juke new in 2013 I got screwed and lied to when shopping in the city that I live in (for the same vehicle). So I went in, had my deposit refunded without the sales man knowing and called every Nissan dealership within 4 hours from where I live and found an honest sales man and dealership 1 hour away from where I live that treated me right.
Earlier this year we traded our 2013 in for a 2015 and went to the same place and was even happier with the result.
You've really got to feel out dealers and sales people and see which one works for you.

I really hope you can find satisfaction somewhere. I do honestly think the result will be nothing will happen from complaining.
Try to focus on finding what you want elsewhere. At least the only thing you physically lost was time. (Is time a physical thing?)

Agree that complaining might not get you too far, but if you want to help out fellow consumers and "potentially" open up the opportunity for leverage with the dirtbags, you should blast them on Yelp and Google Reviews, call the jerks out by name who screwed you. It will take maybe 10 minutes out of your day to do this and could pay dividends down the road in warning other consumers but also giving it to the dirtbags the way they deserve it. It will surely cost them some business in some way shape or form

Man, that sucks!! My dealership has always gone above and beyond. Their vehicles even "include" a lifetime powertrain warranty.

    Noooo You don't. ;)

I have a rental right now... Was rear ended by a drunk driver a month ago, so they gave me a Nissan Frontier, 4 door, short bed. The Frontier is not near the comfort, options etc as the Tacoma. Drive one someday, you'll know what I mean.

I agree..Tacoma owners are a loyal bunch to a fault. But after five Toyotas ,it seems this one is getting a lot of excuses and few fixes. In many cases claiming "it's normal" which means "we know there is an issue and we are not going to do anything about it"

I am a little disappointed with the roll out and the way Toyota is handling QC issues, My loyalty has been tested but I would never buy a Domestic truck.....Honda I would look at...nothing else.

I like to think I'm a reasonable person but after wasting months of my time and then telling me I should have paid over MSRP if I really wanted the truck that's going out the window.

Another update for everyone I've found a new dealership. I was telling a family friend about what's going on and they recommended to a relative. Looks like instead of getting it at MSRP for a custom order, I'm now getting it for invoice.

Few models in the color and package I want. For some weird reason you can only find loaded TRD ORs in 4x2. Models with 4x4 are base models and weird colors.

Excellent work OP. Please don't forget to burn the shit out of these guys online, and don't forget to message the dealer and let them know you're doing it. As an attorney I can tell you that without actual damages you can't really successfully sue them for anything, but you can hit Facebook, Google reviews, yelp, BBB, topix, and probably a few other sites. I would go all out and name names as well. Hit them where it hurts! As long as everything you say is true they can't do shit about it.

Yeah, I didn't think I'd get anything if I tried suing. I got my deposit back so technically there's no harm done. I'll updating this as my complaint with Toyota is updated and anything else that happens.

    4K over MSRP!? LOL

4K under is more like it. That what they sell for around here. Make the complaint but don't give that dealer your money.

Make sure you add a review to Yelp and Google as well

Sorry for your troubles OP and hope your new Toyota dealer does right by you.

I was chewing my nails when I ordered my FJC as it was last year imported and it showed up in late august. I saw it on the dealers sale site, knew it was the one I had ordered [and put money down on] due to how I had it configured and immediately called. Yep, was mine. Salesman was a wonky useless git, if he made a dime off the sale it was 10 cents too much.

If you pay any more than invoice for a ordered vehicle you are getting robbed. The whole stupid "you have to order from a dealership" needs to go. Too many people invested in that business model though. Tesla does it right at least. The shenanigans that some dealers play is ridiculous. If anyone lives near Austin, Round Rock Toyota did me right and I paid invoice for the one I wanted on the lot. The dealership essentially gets a free sell if you order it, they can take whatever they get as a kickback as profit plus their tiering.

Unfortunately big government wants to outlaw Tesla: too many people in congress invested in the auto industry to allow those sort of shenanigans.

Not sure if you're willing to look out of state like in Phoenix, AZ, but there is a TW member who also sells at this place. I've been watching him here and he has really done a lot of really nice things for a lot of the guys in the AZ forum, with apparently some fairly good deals. I never saw him once screw over a single customer or sell out from under them. His SN here is @Letsgoplaces and his name is Chris Lopez. You may want to give him a try if you're wanting to take your business elsewhere.

Yes can't recommend doing the Yelp/Google/BBB and Toyota Corporate thing enough. When I purchased my last truck my sales guy was almost terrified that i would say anything bad to Toyota Corporate. I think they actually have a great deal of influence

Having had to go through corporate this past summer for a different manufacturer, I would still call Toyota of America corporate.

    You may be pleasantly surprised.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it's my understanding that any one dealer can only get a limited number of tacomas per allocation period, so if they can sell all the tacomas they get at MSRP or even far above MSRP, then why on earth would they sell for invoice? The only reason to sell for invoice on an order as opposed to an on the lot purchase is to have the inherent belief that as a dealer you can't sell all the tacomas in your allocation at MSRP or above. What makes OP's case egregious is the fact that he had at the very least an oral contact and a deposit for that truck and they breached the contract. Now why did they do that? Well beyond their lack of integrity, it was because the sales manager got a request to sell the incoming vehicle to someone else for far more money and they knew OP couldn't do shit about it (other than complain). The dealers in California and other high demand areas make this extra money off of people who don't have the inclination (or who have plenty of money or credit) to wait or travel far to get their truck.

Well, I've owned quite a few vehicles and never paid a dime over invoice for any of them, I'm just telling what I have experienced and also been told most of my adult life. Now here in Texas, they have plenty of Tacoma's, hell the dealership 15 miles down the road has 41 of them. That's why I've been telling people that are willing to drive a bit to come down near where I am, surely they can find a Tacoma to their fitting. You are correct however on the allocation rule from what I have learned over the years, however, if they sell more they get more as well, again, at least from what I've understood.

I've seen his posts and if I wasn't in California he would have been the top of my list of people to go to. However if you buy out of state, California makes you jump through hoops and pay extra fees. I bought a mini Cooper out of state and it was one long head ache even though the engine and emissions were already California certified.
