So this year I'm officially married to a stay at home mom and I also have two kids.

At the moment I'm still filing as Single - 0. I've never claimed any other status, so I'm not sure what the differences would be between paychecks, or at income tax time.

I'm curious as to what other married members here with kids are filing as, and why.

    Filing: Married + 2 dependents.
Reason: my tax guy said to do it that way.
(and he always comes back good.)

    For your W2
single 0 = less $ in check more $ in return.
    married + 2 is opposite.

When you file its married +2 HoH , child tax credit etc

Take the maximum deductions that still allow you to not owe taxes at the end of the year. There are IRS worksheets that let you calculate it.

Sorry for the late reply. I might just file as "Married, withhold like single" for now. I'm guessing that is the same as "Single 1". I heard you can't do "Single 0" anymore. I've never had a reason to ever change my status from S0 before.
