My truck came with factory running boards which I removed. Should I fill the holes left by the bolts with something or am I overthinking it? I can’t use the same bolts because I plan on selling the running boards.

It may not make much difference but if it were my truck I’d get some short bolts to put in the holes and put a little oil on the threads. Otherwise those holes will rust and get filled with dirt, mud and other crap. You or someone else may at some time install steps or nerf bars or what ever. If those holes are rusty and full of crud it may make it difficult to to install steps in the future.

What sprig said and the fact that those are blind holes.
I would put bolts in them.

    Thanks guys.

The Toyota instructions say M6 1.25 and M8 1.25. M8 1.25 is standard so I can find that, but seems like standard pitch for M6 is 1.0. Ideas?

They’re definitely different sizes, and the threading appears to be different as well. I’m wondering if it is a misprint and they are actually M6 1.0. I’ll give it a try.

Any recommendation on type of bolt? Stainless ok? Should I use anti seize?

I wouldn't bother using stainless (cost) and yes I would use antiseize.

I filled mine with plastic push type screws that I found at Lowes on the screw isle. They come two per bag.
