So I know nothing about photography at all, but would love to shoot film. I picked up a Nikon N65 a few years ago with the intention of learning how to use it and never did anything with it.

Buy some cheap film and go out and shoot. Easiest way to get the hang of things. You can also watch YouTube videos on the basics, like understanding iso, aperture, and shutter speed

I miss film so much.......My grandpa had an amazing darkroom,at home, and we used to process and print every weekend all through my teens and early twenties. I was never good with composition, but I had an amazing knack for the technical side in the dark room.

I suck at digital processing so bad and tried to get back into doing my own processing and printing a couple years ago, but the cost/roll was a little more than I was interested in perusing. The decision to box up the darkroom and give it away on craigslist was probably one of the hardest things that I've ever had to do.

That’s sounds amazing! I had plans to try and turn my closet sized laundry room Into a dark room, but that never came to fruition. Have you tried bulk loading? Usually cheaper to buy film stock in bulk rolls. I do miss making prints and contact sheets.

I don't even know if they make it anymore, but I always had the best luck with HC110B. I recall it had shorter developing times and slightly better grain. Maybe the contrast was better too, but I can't remember.

My grandpa had it setup in their basement bathroom when I was growing up, and it worked out pretty well. Running water, no windows, and an exhaust fan. We had two enlargers on the vanity and used the bathtub to wash prints.

We bulk loaded when he was still alive and could burn through a 100' roll in a couple months. The problem that I have now, is that the chemistry would go bad long before I'd ever deplete it.

I remember using HC110C. I used several others also, including D76.

I still have my darkroom equipment, in boxes in the basement. We (Dad and I) used to use the laundry room as a "darkroom" - it worked pretty well.

Digital editing is no where near as much fun... :(

Getting rid of my pile of boxes was probably one of the biggest mistakes I've ever made, but made sense to pay it forward and give someone else the chance to use equipment that I may never power on again.
