It sounds like you've already answered your question. A sport better fits what you're going to use it for, especially if you like the scoop and painted flares. Most people on here will say Offroad for the locker but it doesn't sound like you would ever use that. Good Luck

I have a 4x2 OR and I’m glad I have the sunglasses holder. Would still love to have crawl control so you have the best of both worlds.

Sounds like the Sport is right for you. It's a good looking truck. Go for it!

Because that’s a pain and I’d rather not mod things like that for a locker I’d prob never use.

    Should be a poll. :D

Here in CA our bombed out pavement requires an OR to have a somewhat decent ride. My mall crawler OR is quite useful for this. For mileage, get the air dam from another member here (I paid $30, but have seen them for free).

Didn't get a scooped hood but judging from the comments here the restriction to your view makes them a PITA. Just my $0.02!

    G/L with your choice!

Dude... have you SEEN those speed bumps at the elementary school these days! I *need* my locker to safely traverse them!! It's a safety thing, don't you understand???

OP, sorry for the diversion, I couldn't resist. :burp:

Back to topic! Can't wait to see what your final decision is.

Yeah you might want an OR to deal with the broken ass roads in San Diego. Can't afford to maintain those, but somehow the mayor found all sorts of money to try to keep the chargers in town with a brand new stadium...

OR for the insecure drivers. SR5 for those that are comfortable with themselves, and the Sport for those that want just a little bit more than the SR5

    ^^ +1 on this!

bought my sport because it was literally cheaper than the SR5 trim with the end of the year $3k savings deals.

buy a 4x4 sport as a daily and upgrade it as needed, and spend 8k on a 1998 beater tacoma with manual lockers and a SAS and do off roading CORRECTLY. Don't mix daily driving with an off road truck.

As already mentioned, softer ride on the Off-Road, and the extras for virtually the same price as the Sport, knocks it out of the ballpark for me!

Fellow New Englander here. I'm picking up a new OR tomorrow. I live in a VERY hilly area. The roads here in VT and nearby NH SUCK. I'm probably never going to off road unless by mistake. I've driven the SR5 and the OR and the OR takes it going away in the smooth ride department.

The sport I'm looking at IS 4x4. Sounds like you had the 4x2 sport?

But many say for snow, the locker isn't really needed. I even asked the question in a separate post about snow and lockers. Only if you get really stuck on off camber, etc., with one wheel in the air is it really needed. For normal dangerous snowy hills... its my understanding the locker won't do anything. Can't fight gravity and a slippery road no matter how many tires are running.
