I just don’t get all the hate for anything under a OR or Pro. As if not having a locker or crawl control or bilstein shocks means your truck sucks and will always suck lol. Older off roaders got along fine without those features and just 4x4 right? Idk maybe I’m really just annoyed Toyota doesn’t let you do a la carts option ordering :)

This is straight BS. The SR5 is probably the most beloved model here and its "below" the Pro and OR. IMO, its above a sport, but thats just because I drove a sport and didn't like the scoop, so I'd go SR5 over it.

Well maybe I just seem to read a bunch of pro-OR people that are into off roading.

If you test drove both, buy the one you like the best.
If you haven't noticed, everyone says what they bought is the best, one day, you will too...

You’re likely going to modify the suspension anyways (welcome to TW), but not having an OEM rear locker when you have the option would be short sighted IMO. Everything else is cosmetic and easily changed.

I would stay away from the Pro if you’re modifying, unless you’re dead set on a Pro color that isn’t readily available yet.

I am very happy with my SR5. If I had to do it again I’d buy an SR5. I came from 1996 manual 1st so this SR5 is a huge upgrade ha

However, if i had to choose between a Sport and an OR I’d go OR. More bang for your buck. Personally, I could care less about how a rig looks on the outside. I spend all my time on the inside of a rig. Both come identical on the inside so that’s a wash.

I know a truck is not a good investment, but I think of it this way. I would spend more money for a rig with an OEM locker than i would for a rig with a fake hood scoop. Not that I have anything against the sport! It looks great! Everyone’s opinions and needs are different. But that’s mine haha

Go with what your needs and wants are and you will be happy!!

Why short sighted if I never plan on any real off roading? And if I wanted to get into wheeling I could go aftermarket.

And easily changed? Hunting down fender flares with correct paint, a new hood and bumpers sounds like a royal pain than paying a little more for a better aftermarket locker and getting it installed TBH. More expensive? Probably

    Why not an SR5?

Are you even sure you want a Tacoma? Seriously, maybe a Ridgeline would honestly fit your needs better, it probably has a better ride and its AWD so you won't have to fool around with the 4 wheel drive system.

Said it plenty of times already. I like the looks of the sport and options. Willing to pay 1800 more for it over the sr5. I just don’t get why not having a locker is short sighted for a truck that won’t see a ton of true off roading? In other truck manufacturers lockers only come standard on the higher end/ off road models. What does that tell you? Tells me lockers are best for when you are actually off roading, and not just mild trails.

What options does a sport have that an SR5 does not?

I could be wrong but I thought it had a few extras like backup cam and nav. And dude, you gotta understand it’s about the cosmetic upgrades from the sr5 too.

Every truck has a back up cam, thats a government mandated thing. I'd assume you can get Nav on the sr5, right?

OR is actually more expensive. Sports start around $32k and ORs start around $36k

Yes but I think once you do apples to apples like the same cab/engine/bed they are the same

Brother. It’s about the looks of the sport and the wheels. Obviously if I didn’t care about looks I’d be all over the sr5

Other than the hood and wheels, what's different about the body from an SR5 and a sport?
For the record, the gray wheels on a SR5 are the best looking wheels on any Taco IMO.
