OK I know noone wants to talk about this anymore but here I go. So I replaced my drivers side front wheel bearing about a month ago, everything went fine, da, da da. Then as i spend more time on tacoma world I start hearing people talking about packing the new bearings with their own grease before installing. I buy SKF bearings and I would love to pack it with grease but it does not seem like the bearings should be pulled apart from the race. My concern is the plastic insert obviously there to hold the unit together for pressing purposes, Im worried if I pull it out and seperate the bearings for greasing will they sit back in the race nice and square when i got to press it to the hub. I dont want to fuck up a 200 $ bearing. Can you guys that have packed them with grease give me some insite on this. I am going to change my passenger side this weekend. Thanks

That plastic is for transporting so you going have to pull it out when you pressing bearing. So dont worry about.
Also you going to be able to pull side with rubber seal away the other side will stay together so best way is use needle connection on grease gun to fill that side with grease. Did you pack your drive side before replacing ?

So I discussed this with my buddy who works at west can where i buy my bearings. we managed to pull one bearing apart from the race about 3\8 and there was a shit ton of grease in there. I couldnt fit anymore if I tried. They are an SKS bearing and I dont think they would offer a 3 year warrant if the grease was shitty quality. So there must be a difference between brands but Im pressin these right on. No I did not grease my drivers side but I'm not worried about it anymore.
