Howdy all. I'm the guy (from the FJ board) who worked out the deal with PDM to get them on board with the manufacture of a stainless steel sleeve kit for the AISIN 6 speed that the Taco's and FJ's share. That was about 10 months ago. The problem and the kit are posted here (along with some actual install pics from one of the guys) :

While there have been quite a few installs of this kit (and they all worked out well and esp. good if you're out of warranty) we are now getting some pretty darned good info that a TSB is coming out shortly. One Toyo tech (from a Texas dealership) has already seen the paperwork but can't make it public until after Toyo does. He's indicating that the fix is more involved than a sleeve kit. One can only hope !

Personally I'm hoping we get something like what's on this page :

Further to my above post - the Toyo Tech who has seen the upcoming TSB has flat out stated that the fix will not be anything like the PDM kit.

He also states "it sounds like the parts that are going to be released are going to work out, looks like they put some serious thought / time into the fix for it."

Can't wait to see what is coming down the pike (we've been waiting long enough) !!!
