Grey wire mod, Deck plate mod, diff breather mod. K&N air filter. Toytec coilovers. AAL. Custom rear lift shackles. diff drop. Centerforce clutch. Superwinch LP8500 with custom "behind bumper" mount. Winch solenoid relocation with in cab winch control. 33x12x15 Duratracs. Aisin manual hub swap.
So I search now and then for good prices on used diff lock actuators. Yesterday i stumbled across this on ebay.

Made by Dorman. Now I realize Tacoma's are not listed in the application guide but it certainly looks very simular to what the Tacoma uses. I have never heard or seen mention about this aftermarket option available before.

Has anyone actually tried this actuator or is this your first time seeing it too?

And at a 1/3 of the dealership cost here in Canada.

I wouldn't trust it. Dorman is usually pretty good about getting their applications correct. there has to be something about this that isn't equal to OE. now, thats saying that it needs to be equal to OE to be listed for a tacoma. if the difference is the molding of the casing, but fit form and function are exactly the same and works. then fuck it, go for it! just keep in mind, if you install it and it doesn't work. you will NOT get a refund. who wants to put 400 bones on the line for the rest of us?

honestly, your probably better off sending the thing to an electric motor rebuild shop.

i even counted the same amount if teeth on the gear. maybe a different connector but wires should do the same.

I replaced mine recently. I went with Aisin. Cheaper than OEM Toyota, but slightly more than Dorman. As a FYI, Aisin is owned by Toyota. Aisin builds all the transmission components for Toyota. I bought their locker actuator over Dorman because I knew I was getting an OEM product without the Toyota price. It fit in perfectly and works perfectly as well. Hopefully this helps.

Just put in an Aisin actuator here also, exactly like the original. & don't forget to check the breather tube...
