I sold my Frontier back in 2012 to help pay for my wedding. Its taken me this long to try and buy a new truck, and I just cant catch up to Toyota's constantly growing sticker prices. So a used truck it has to be. Thankfully, my brother in-law is getting a new truck and is giving me what I think is a really good price on a 2012. Ill list the specs below. What do you all think on price?

So to summarize: 2012 Base model V6 CC LB 4X4 102,xxx miles
Purchase and truck location: Fremont, Ca
    Tow Package
Chrome looking factory Wheels (Not a fan)
    Single owner (Brother in-law)
Never been off the pavement. Daily commuting. Toughest thing it has seen is a Tahoe trip from the Bay Area.
    Partial Garage/Outside parking

Services completed pretty regularly up until a few years ago. It became his 2nd vehicle so it was not driven very often.
    60k service was completed.
Front/Rear diff and transfer case all serviced at 60K
100k mile service will be completed Friday before I purchase on Saturday.
    Brand new A/T tires

I dont have photos yet. Ill be going over their this Saturday to purchase it. Photos this weekend. Paint is perfect. No accidents. Interior is accidents. Kids were older so interior looks 9/10

    Purchase price is $16k

Looks like a west coast ruck so I assume the frame is fine. $16 would be $3k under the going rate up here two states to your north.

That’s a fair price. The only concerning item on the 2012 is the SAIS filter. There’s a lot of info on here about the failures, the Toyota covered fix, and the “UNI filter mod” to avoid the main issue of the original filter falling apart and getting sucked into the wrong places.

We like pics, especially the frame. But it sounds like a solid deal. Good luck and enjoy your truck.

Yes, sorry. Edited to add location. Truck has lived entire life in Fremont, Ca. Maybe seen the snow once or twice in Tahoe. Otherwise typical dry non salted roads of Northern Ca

Thank you for this. Ill look into right away.

Yea, Ill get these up asap

Based off advice from @JasonLee I reviewed service history on Toyota website. I don't see any recall info for the SAIS being completed. Searching Google and forum looks like recall was sent sometime in 2020?
I asked my brother in-law to have this checked or completed on Friday when he takes the truck in.

Brother isn't home till this weekend so best I got for now. Also, not sure how I didnt remember but its a TRD Sport. Toyota website when I entered Vin for service history has it listed a base model. I guess I dont know my Tacoma models.

Not going to lie, I had never seen anything on this SAIS issue. Thankful that I found out now I guess? This is current status of it. Looks ok. Ill do the UNI mod when I actually am in possession of the truck

If I was in the market for a Tacoma, this would be a good deal to me. People around my parts would be jacking the price on this and finding something in that good of condition is rare, even with all the Tacoma's Hawaii has. The 2012+ have the SAIS. You can remove it along with a tune if you want. Go for it!

Ask your brother for a $5k loan so you can buy the truck.
Sounds like a pretty good deal.

    Do it. (Buy it.)

There is no such thing as a frame or body rust issue on vehicles that live all their lives in Fremont, CA & environs.
