Probably had issues due to the lift kit and non factory add-ons. Chevy will be OK, but you just lost a ton of money driving it off the lot. Look at book value of a 2 year old Chevy and a Toyota.

I've had a Chevy and other than cooling issues (new radiator @ 43k,) I had no problems. But lost my @$$ when I sold it and it was in VERY nice shape. They just don't hold their value. Guess why....

    Best of luck...

Yeah, deisels seem to be hit and miss with different people. Personally, I would never have a deisel pickup as my everyday driver. I love them for towing, but racking up miles on them will get them into the shop eventually, which is always expensive.

I like the two truck system, taco for running around and wheelin, and a deisel for towing. This is probably why I'm not a fan of 1/2 ton pickups.

I think it is somewhat luck of the draw. I, myself, am a Toyota truck fan and love my Tacoma. My brother is on his third Siverado and not had one issue with any of them. He has had his current one for 7 years now and nothing has gone wrong (nor with his others). He has been fortunate but I think all car manufacturers have issues. I love my Tacoma and hope mine isn't one of them. :). Nice looking truck OP.

Wow take it easy fellas I didn't abandon Toyota completely now. I still have a 2011 Tacoma at the house and a 2012 Corolla.

I also was looking for a larger truck and just couldn't pull the trigger on the Tundra. I looked at it and did like it but the price tag was a little steep for me.

I wanted a bigger bed for hauling and the V8 for the boat.

I respect everyone's opinions though and will be hanging around in the future.

During the 70's and 80's top GM Brass decided to fleece the Company and victimize American and Canadian Unionized workers by outsourcing to people that cared as much about the Company as they did-they should be thrown in jail.

I want the "new" GM to commit to building at least 3 brand new vehicles built entirely in the USA and Canada or they can go fuck themselves.

I have high hopes for GM's new leader she has a tough road ahead but coming from the lines I know she's tough and wish her the best of luck.

I support the Union workers and the fantastic job you all do!

Thank you for reading my rant.

    Carry on.

I went from a 2000 Chevy z71 to the Tacoma. There is a lot I miss about the Chevy. I owned it for 13 years and only did maintenance repairs the entire time I owned it. The Chevy towed more, carried more, rode better, more comfortable, faster and got as good or better MPG.

I also owned a 1993 chevy before the above truck, I kept the 1993 until 2003 (my wife drove it and loved it). I only had to repair the AC once (high pressure switch) and replaced the alternator several times (I actually carried a spare it happened often enough).

I opted for the Tacoma because it was smaller and better off-road. For the other 90% of use the Chevy was better.

I like the Tacoma, but I do miss the Chevy.

The new Silverado is one of the ugliest vehicles I've ever seen. Right up there with the Hyundai Tiburon. Looks like Chevy started with a nice streamlined truck, then put those quilts on they hide pre-production vehicles with, then decided to laser measure the truck with the quilts on and produce that instead.

    Those are godawful ugly trucks.

    Good Luck with the Chevy.

Me, never again. Having owned GM trucks for over 30 years, I'm done.
Best was my '96, still had a 350. Worse was my '06 Sierra crew cab. Nice truck, optioned out and ran strong. Underneath was a different story.
Rotted tranny lines, cooler lines, brake lines and fuel fittings.Frame was rusting as well.
All this was just beyond extended warranty. Yep, all done.
