just a couple of things tbh
ive had a few trucks just in the past few years haha. as shellshock stated i had a 2022 ford ranger xlt, had the fx4 package and black appearance package and tow package and some other small things added. it was a really nice truck at 42k (not including company discount to put it at 39,500) and i liked it a lot! it was leaps and bounds above my old 2nd gen tacoma and the 3rd gen tacoma! sadly thou it was a flawed truck and the transmission started acting up at 15k... more and more post on the forums about transmissions blowing up before 100k miles. so i was being careful with mine so it wouldnt blow up... but it started slipping out of gear not shifting, slamming into gear which when doing so would make the truck jump forward and chirp the tires... or the truck just wouldnt drive... start it in the morning and wooow i have 10 neutrals! ford did nothing to help me.. i took it to 3 different dealers each one didnt help me out at all... so i traded the truck off for another 2nd gen since i knew they were reliable trucks.. so now after spending that kinda money on a truck and it being junk within a year and a half i cant imagine spending that kinda money on any new vehicle that might just be trash...

With all the Toyotas I have had I would buy a Tundra over a Ford if it came down to it.

    Excellent choice!!

I'm keeping my 4th gen Taco for a long time, but as soon as I find a Ranger Raptor, our 2020 JT is gone baby gone.

because they kept saying there was nothing wrong with the truck... the trans problems on the ranger were intermittent until it finally would fail. so ford wouldnt do anything even thou after talking to others about it you need them to pull the trans oil pan to look into the issues or pull the trans but no dealer wanted to since they had others with the same issue... two dealers i went to the truck was having loads of issues and not shifting and they did admit it had some issues but they said it was still fine and should be able to last until they get time to truly look into it but each time i tried to get it in they didnt help and didnt want to deal with it.

so in a sense no ford didnt... ford is now working to fix the trans issues buuuuut they wont do shit until it actually fails. and if the truck is out of warranty you have to pay the 6-8k to have it replaced even if its just outside of the warranty...

Let's not forget how Toyota is still not covering white paint peeling off 3 year old trucks...

Toyota is no better that Ford chevy or ram these days.

Toyota is still riding on its reputation from 20 years ago and I think that is finally coming to an end.

My friend just got a new ranger raptor. Perfect body gaps and the interior quality is worlds better than the Toyota. Why spend more and get less with Toyota?

Trying to figure out why everyone is so bent out of shape over tacoma reliability when you guys trade your trucks in after 2 oil changes o_O

I guess it's a trade off.. either trade it in while the resale value is still high or own it long enough that resale doesn't matter. I plan on driving mine until the frame rusts out or gasoline becomes illegal

    haha! this is true.

I would be more upset with the cheapo interior and shitty panel gaps.

Congratulations! These are super cool trucks. If I were in the market for a new mid size I think I would make a similar choice.

I will say the fit and finish inside is impressive compared to the 3G. Granted we are talking 8-9 years difference so the Ranger should have soft touch materials, a nice center console that isn't hard plastic, instrument cluster that doesn't look like a 1980's pong game (talking to you 2024 SR5). Nice to have a backup camera that isn't in 240p either, although the 2024 OR Premium with 14" screen did have wonderful resolution.

Disgusting. I would have told those dealers "how about you drive this truck for a bit and see if you feel it's fine when it acts up".

Similar reasons why I'd never buy a GM again..between 2 dealers and the main office it was like hearing the cookie jar break, finding my niece and nephews in the same room with cookie crumbs on their hands, nobody knows nothing except he/she didn't do it

Right behind you, OP. I’ll do another year with my 2020, then it’s Ranger Raptor for me.

ya it was stupid... the first dealer claimed oh we drove it for 20miles with no issues! meanwhile the tech was trying to bring me my truck back and guuuuess what it wouldnt move from the parking spot... and when i looked at my miles and how much fuel i had left (they all have a gauge saying 50miles left at 1/4 tank) mine had 40 miles to empty guess how much it had when i dropped it off.... 44 miles to empty so they didnt drive it at all... the other two at least said there was an issue but then claimed they would do nothing to the truck and said best of luck...

Sounds like my old Colorado, they just tried to avoid fixing it despite two written warranties on the vehicle.

I'd hope you called Ford as well and told them to fk off.
