My 2014 DCLB has made a popping or clunking sound when going over bumps or uneven road since it was new. It sounded like it was coming from back half of the truck. Searched and couldn't find the cause for 2 years. Well a few days ago I finally checked my spare tire the first time for air pressure for the winter season. I know, don't scold me. I had to really reef on the handle to break it free. It made a huge popping noise when it broke free and I thought something might have broken. Must have been the gorilla that tightens everything at the factory. Seems everything is ok and no more clunk. Thought I'd share as I've seen other threads with this same kind of noise concern.

I flipped my spare over so I can check the pressure without dropping it. No problems with noises so far, but good info!

It only happened when it was 40 degrees F or 5 degrees C or colder. Dealer said they couldn't replicate the sound. I knew it was nothing mechanical to worry about and have never had it to the dealer for anything else. It's been a perfect truck otherwise so I just kept looking for the sound periodically myself. Glad I finally found it. Never occurred to me what it actually was.
