First, Friggin' awesome build! Makes me miss my 02. So, about those wheels ant tires. I have some FJ 16x7 wheels and I've been considering going to 285's but Ive heard there are a lot of shops that won't even install them on anything smaller than a 7.5 inch wheel. Have you run into any issues with your setup?

Thanks man! Not exactly sure what you're asking? Are you asking if I have had any problems with having 285s on my fj rims or are you asking have I had any rubbing issues?

Well, supposedly, the 285's on 7 inch wide wheels will bulge and wear in the middle of the tread. Or, some people have said that they run lower psi in the tires to allow the tread to stay flat on the asphalt. I dunno, was just wondering if you have made any observations with that combo.

Oh ok. Well iv'e had these tires for 8K miles and they are wearing well. Not sure what other people are running PSI wise, but I usually keep them around 32-35 psi. Not sure if that's what it should be at but it seems to be doing well.

Hmmm. That's reassuring. Thanks for the follow up.

Some generic brand I bought at Oriellys. They were like $15. I think energy suspension makes the same design but they had these on the shelf.

They are much taller than the OE bump, yes? Are they very soft?

Yes they are larger. I'd say at least 2 or 3 times larger than OEM. I wouldn't say they are soft but they are softer than OEM. They aren't any Timbrens but I would say they are better than stock. Even if I don't like them, just unscrew them and put OEM back on.

Yea the stock bumps suck. I'm curious if those are soft enough that their compressed height is equal to that if the OEM bump. I'd like a softer bump but I'm not willing to lose any up travel to get it.

Started setting up the bed for the road trip! Got my sleeping platform made and put it! I'll have my bike next to me and storage underneath the platform! Now I just need to start organizing everything!

The new sleeping platform with a place for my bike next to me.

Pretty much spent all day working on the truck, with taking breaks to go inside to cool off because it's so damn hot here! Started setting up by truck for the road trip with all my stuff in it. I was going to put my cooler under the platform, but it's too wide to it'll go infont of my bike and it fits perfectly! Decided to shorten the height of the platform too, since I thought it was too high. Shortened it about 3 inches and it's a lot better. Next, I removed the old fuel tank skid plate since the new one should be here this week. Once I got it off, I sprayed the entire underside of the truck with simple green and cleaned the whole truck. When it was dry I put the skid plates back on the front under the engine. Then, I got around to getting my CB radio installed that I had laying around from my old jeep. Took off the dash peice and cut a little for my CB to fit in where the ash tray would go. Waiting to install it because I ordered a 90 degree elbow for the connection to the back of the CB so it will fit more flush in the dash. Decided to run the cable from the box to the antenna in the mean time. Ran it through a grommet I found on the bottom of the truck and along the frame to the rear bumper. Drilled a hole through the bumper and attached the antenna. I thought it was funny that when I had this set up in my old jeep the cable was way too long and on the truck it was perfect! Happy to say things are coming together!

Cut a little plastic in the dash to get my cb to fit, it fits perfectly. I have a Cobra 19 Ultra III. When he 90 degree adapter gets here, it'll get installed.

Ran the cable from the ash tray, along the frame, and attached to the bumper. Turned out pretty good! The 4' Firestick just happened to be red and black to match the truck...:D

Came home today with a bunch of boxes on the porch! Christmas in July! Bear spray, fire extinguisher, Trasharoo, Viair 400P air compressor, and my Low Range Off-road gas tank skid! Have to say that the air compressor is a lot more heavy duty than I thought it would be! The new skid plate isn't as thick as I thought it'd be but definitely much stronger than stock. Got everything put on/in the truck. Only thing I need to make the truck road trip ready is the right angle connector for the CB. After that, it should be ready to roll!

Everything I found on the porch!

When I was crawling around underneath the truck yesterday installing the new skid plate, I noticed that the fuel filter said Toyota on it and assumed that it was from the factory. So, picked a new filter up and swapped it out. Figured since they're pretty cheap, i'd rather know that I have a good filter over having one that could possibly have 100K + miles on it.

Right angle CB attachment came in the mail today. Got everything hooked up. Used Velcro to hold it in place. CB isn't completely flush like I'd like it but it should work. Might have to trim a little of the bottom part of the dash peice to make it look straighter. Sometime I'll head over to my buddy and he'll help me tune it in.

Just FYI Velcro won't hold it. That's what I've got in mine and it is horrible on trails

Did a little more trimming around the CB and it fits a lot more level. I'm happy with it!

Bled the brakes today on both my truck and my buddies. My buddy had to change his brake lines for longer ones and mine just needed bled. We took his truck out for a little rip after we got everything put together. Fun little truck! Took it threw some pretty deep stuff and it went threw it without a sweat! After that we put our trucks side by side, put them both in 4 low and see who was slower! Ha my truck won! Had fun just messin around on some trails behind his house and called it a day.
