Damn that looks clean! I’d put some all terrains on it and just enjoy it. Those trucks look great stock.

    Nice looking ride!
Mods. Bed rug, tonneau cover, light mod to change directional to fog lights and side markers to directional (instructions in 1st gen forum). Add remote start, seat cover upgrade…etc.

    You can
    1. Drive it
    2. Beat it
    3. Show it
    4. Repair it
    5. Junk it

Not much else to do with a vehicle.

I agree with all of the above. After you're sure it's up to date on maintenance items, take it out on some forest roads and trails. These trucks have very good 4x4 capabilities in stock setup. Drive if for a while before you decide to start modding, you just might keep original. I think they retain a better resell value in stock form.

Since no one else has stated this, Do you have any maintenance records on when the lower and upper ball joints were last replaced. The lowers are more critical than the uppers, and the one weak point on the suspension. I highly recommend only using Genuine Toyota ball joints. You'll thank yourself for spending a few extra dollars in the long run.

    4 run, 2 don't
    Just maintenance.

    Why are mods required?

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
You had some reason you wanted a Truck.

Most often to haul things for other people.

Change all the fluids inspect rubber hoses for dry rot

Lower Ball joints unless they were recently changed.

Timing Belt if it is a 3.4 Some people dump a truck rather then change a timing belt.

Start at the ground and work up catching up on neglected maintenance

Once all the maintenance is up to speed Then do the Goodies you can not live without .

Before going on a spending spree, get under it and inspect the frame completely from front to rear checking places that are harder to see.

Inspect all safety systems, repair/refresh as needed.

Replace all fluids you don't have good records for so you have a baseline. And any associated rubber hoses, crush washers, etc.

How you use the truck will be a good guide to actual mods. Things that improve reliability, safety and function matter most IMHO.

My truck was a two owner with lots of service history but at 270k miles it was due for some maintenance. First thing I did was LBJ's, Control arm bushings, steering rack bushings, sway bar bushings and end-links. My shocks were dead so I did a lift at the same time with Bilstein 5100's, OME 882's and Dakar Leaf pack. Now I'm on to the engine maintenance - plugs, OEM plug wires, oil change with Mobil 1, OEM oil filter, OEM air Filter. After the lift, of course my axle boots blew out so now I've got a set of extended travel axles to install while I get my OEM's rebuilt. Next up after that is gear and trans oil, lol. Clearly I went down the rabbit hole but I like to know my vehicles and always use OEM parts where I can. Have fun!

@inf811 That truck looks really clean and well looked-after so I'd try to establish a maintenance history before you get too crazy replacing parts and so forth. Did the PO give you a service history?

That is a good looking truck! If you are planning on keeping it long term, while you are under it, if you find any traces of surface rust, get a quart of POR-15 and apply a coat after some surface degreasing. Make sure you wear gloves because once it cures it can only be removed by mechanical means. The spots that you paint will never progress beyond what they were, especially if those areas are not exposed to sunlight.
