So I been wanting one for about 30 years, had a frontier many years ago and just recently was looking for a used 6cyl tacoma in good condition but they have gotten very expensive. I was shopping later model rangers and although i was impressed with the pep in the i4turbo i really couldn’t get myself to like how the ride felt just too bouncy for my liking.
The Tacoma rode similar to my old frontier in how you sat to how it handled. I know some people actually complain about how you sit but for my hight it isn’t bad. My only gripe was I really wanted a 6cyl for the pep as I don’t need it for towing anything but settled for the 2.7 4cyl.
The market has been crazy with trucks being sold as soon as they hit the lot around here as many have been replacing vehicles they lost due to storm damage.
In one week had 4 trucks i was going to look at sell by the time i made it to the dealership. One place selling roughly 30 vehicles a day and not even in a major metropolitan city.
So i kept settling for a little less and finally just got a 22 4cyl SR. Not the fastest truck for sure but color was exactly what I wanted. In ect mode and with the a/c off its not too bad.
Just wondering as i need to do a few things to it that are not too pricey. Window tint for sure. Floor mats and definitely some kind of predator steps or running boards.
I was told they are pretty easy to put on. Some recommendations would be great as to which style is better as for looks and functionality. It would be me and my dogs getting in and out. I don’t know that they give and side protection from anything.
Any other recommendations as to what can accent it and maybe help with performance.
It will be a while but eventually replace the stock steel wheels and get all terrain tires.I was told bigger tires would also bog it down some more.
Plan on keeping it for a long time providing it doesn’t give me any issues.
Not young either so also want to keep the look a little timid.
Wouldn’t mind a little dressing between steps and other trim. I was told you can get stick on to fill in the letters on the tailgate. Any info and ideas would be greatly appreciated not only on accessories but any mechanical things I should be aware of. Thanks again

Welcome to Tacoma World! It's all the social media I need. Loads of advice in the forums, so check out the 3rd Generation, vendors forums and more... TVD Vinyl Decals is a member, and I've purchased and applied their products: color matched vinyl overlays to reduce the chrome glare on doors and tailgate, looking at the different color overlays for the 3rd Gen wheels I found as takeoffs from a tire shop in SLC (cheaper than aftermarket wheels) that look great on 2nd Gens. Bambeds, LC Engineering Performance, AJT Design screw-back fob cases and more.... Last weekend, I installed the tailgate seal kit from the manufacturer, Extruded Solutions, Inc. of West Chicago. Redline Tuning hood QuickLIFT kit was one of the first accessories as the hood is a lot heavier, and the trucks bigger, than my first new vehicle purchase, a 1984 Toyota Longbed Deluxe. This 2009 is a SR5-DLT that Dad ordered as his Last Truck (spec'd the way I would have, as the '84 served me well between western Montana and Sitka, Alaska. There are several DLTs posting on TW...
