After waiting for over 5 weeks for my dealer to get a bed mat they still had no idea of when it would come in. I paid a little more but bought one from a seller on Amazon. IMG_1860.jpgIMG_1861.jpgIMG_1862.jpg

$212.07 From the dealer it would have been somewhere around $150 - but they had no clue when they could get one. I wanted one now and was willing to pay for the privilege.

Beats the shit out of spraying a composite bed for $599.

I got mine from Fred Anderson Toyota on their Memorial Day sale for $110 shipped, to the Midwest. I checked July 4th and they also had it on sale for the same price. Anyone interested, I would either check for a Labor Day sale or maybe even call them and ask if you can get one on sale, sooner. I think this OEM mat is the best one out there because it's heavy and lays absolutely flat. I've seen pics of knockoffs and they seem more flimsy.

A little off subject maybe: but WHY do folks spray a composite bed? I get the dealer angle: charge $500 for $20 worth of an unknown substance that could be anything. My son's bed on his 21 year old 2005 has done a lot of work and looks great. No spray. My 2014 has lived an easier life and looks great. No excessive scratching, gouges, weathering, fuzzing or fading on either.

After weathering and working for a few years, do they still look freshly sprayed? Thank you! :proposetoast:

It’s a new port option to gouge the consumer. It’s purely a profit grab by the greedy system Toyota created.

The distributor model Toyota created sucks.

Thank you. It doesn't so much bother me that it was sprayed on there with no say in the matter for everyone. What would infuriate me is if: after a few years of throwing lumber, a small load of topsoil or gravel or misc routine transfer of normal-life crap and old junk from around and in the house to the transfer station, my two-year-old factory composite bed would now look like a 10 year old worn out beaten mess... (and it has lived a fairly easy life.)

It was a mandatory option (whose option? Not mine) on my truck. I wanted a long bed TRD OR, and there was so few available of those, I had to eat the heated seats, geezer step, and spray on bed. I actually don't mind the spray on at all, but I agree it is largely pointless when a mat would have done the job better -- however didn't see any 6' bed mats at all and still don't. The only advantage to the spray on is the grippy coating. It's a lot less slick when wet compared to the composite. But is it $500 worth of non stick? Not really.

The "suck it, this is what we sell and take it or leave it" system of Toyota really leaves a bad taste in my mouth. And of all the dealers I contacted, Toyota seems to have the highest percentage of total douchebag dealerships of any manufacturer. This was the first Toyota I've purchased and it was a process I don't wish to repeat anytime soon.
