Got the keyless set with lock from the Leer store today to install into the 100xq. Wondering if anyone else has installed and wanted to confirm:

Lock—> wires with pins —> fuse block —> new long wiring harness with pins—> driver side keyless wire tap?

Q: is there a harness that can work for a plug and play scenario?

I have miscellaneous taps, blade connectors, etc., but wondering if there cleaner solutions? Or what’s the “expert” (or Leer? They didn’t give me details like that) way? Thanks!

    Adding: if I find I have enough cabling, I'll route to the passenger side;

Q: anyone have a diagram/info on which pins (and same question about a clean install) to connect to on the passenger side?

    Thanks!

OP, searching for "Pop n lock install" or such might net you a diagram. I installed one in my tailgate years ago and can't remember the exact process, but one of those threads may help with the diagram part.

I have the OEM tailgate remote installed; that should bring help with some of it. I’m sure someone out here has a shop or wiring manual out here.

They sent me a color snap of the wiring— could you just remove the pins out of the connector and connect them there (probably with new pins)? Or tap?

If that is so, then the wires required are there.
Would you want the cap door lock to unlock at same time as tailgate? if so, then parallel tap. I think @Puppypunter has one he sells.

If any other way, then a stand alone harness will need to be assembled.

Just tap into that at the rear. Be much simpler than running more wires to the front.

Crimp terminals (82998-24350) at wires routed from cap solenoid, parallel with tailgate lock harness (loomed), to inside cab on passenger's side.
Locate J17, unlock tab and push in junction block and connector to remove it from the securing frame.
Pull around away from securing frame for better accessibility.
    Remove the junction block.
Release the terminal locks on connector side.
    Insert (correctly) crimped terminals.
    Insert junction block to connector.
    Function test.
Insert connector and junction block back to securing frame.
Return removed items to original state.

Understood! I understand the circuitry, but not quite the physical routing yet (my guess is passenger side across the glass, back up, down the cab side, into the tail light, back down to the harness connector).

Tailgate lock harness connector is on passenger side.

Right, of course; I was getting mixed up with your first post to tap at the taiigate (actual tap, like splicing? EDIT: I think you mean a harness tap), rather than running the cable all the way to the passenger side for a harness from @Puppyhunter? Or run a short run to the tailgate, then plug into a custom harness? (Thanks for clarifying.)

Separately, I remember the tech at the Leer shop saying something about not getting power too far out that it wouldn't work-- maybe voltage drop? But that doesn't make sense if they supply a harness that runs down the truck length. Anyway: /ignore.

The harness would the shortest and easiest. Slicing is doable, just needs to be sealed from the environment.

So, a harness under the tailgate would be needed (I remember making the final connection there for the OEM tailgate remote lock); what are the connectors needed for that (still waiting on @Puppyhunter to reply) to build a harness? Thanks!

The info is in the drawing. They are 090/2.3II sealed type terminals. You could add a second set of same connectors and terminals near the Cap solenoid, for when you remove the cap/ sell it/ or need to replace the locking system.
