Howdy! Just picked up my first Tacoma today. It’s a 2019 SR with the SX package, and included a hard tonneau cover. V6 2WD, which isn’t a problem for me. Single owner, 36k miles on the clock. I think I got a solid deal considering interest rates on used vehicles at the moment.

I have some plans for this truck but as of now, I don’t think I’ll be going too crazy. Going to remove the side steps first and then will be doing the intermittent wiper mod. These tires have some life left in them so I’ll run them for now and then likely move up in size a bit and go with something more aggressive. This is my first real truck, but I drove a 2002 Suburban for a fair bit after high school and into college. Felt like now was a better time than ever to get into a Tacoma before the new powertrains come out.

With that said, I definitely want to do everything that I can to keep this truck for the long haul and run it until it falls apart. What should I be doing maintenance-wise to keep it on track for 300k+ miles?

Super happy to finally have a Tacoma and I’m looking forward to putting some miles on it.

    Cheers!

As far as your question about what to look for to keep your new Taco on the road, aside from the typical things you do for any vehicle (regular oil changes, keeping on schedule for regular wear items) the main enemy of your truck is frame rust. Depending on where you live, this may or may not be a huge issue - if you're in a coastal area, or a rust-belt state that salts/brines their roads in the winter, this is something to keep an eye on. There's a number of products/services that you can get done to protect your frame... searching on this forum will give you hours of reading on them.
