Filled up this morning and was pleased to see 21.7 after I calculated mpg.

I have been using Fuelly since I got my truck..the winter blend gas is depressing. I DON'T warm up in the winter...I start it, wait about 1 min and then drive. My commute is about 9 min. I can drive it conservatively and get 19mpg or drive it aggressively and drop to 16....but no matter how I drive it I get nailed in the winter. The best I ever got was 23+ on a trip back from NH with a mattress and box spring in the bed on their sides. I figure it cut down on wind over the bed gate and it forced me to drive 60mph...

Recently completed a 2000+ mile round trip to Chicago in my 2015 TRD Off Road DCSB V6. As much as possible ran 2000 rpm with indicated 67 mph. Obviously city driving, road construction, occasion passing ( not much at this speed) varied mph.

Best tank 23.6 worst tank 20.1 and avg. mpg was 21.7 used trip meter reset at each fill up divided by gallons purchased. Also updated my Fuelly account each fill up which matched my calculations.

It is hard to drive this slow on the interstate but any faster lowers my mpg.

For reference my 2008 Sierra Z71 4x4 with 5.3 v8 would get 20.3/20.4 on the same trip and conditions.

Light on the skinny pedal is your friend for fuel economy but takes a lot of self discipline.

Maintaining tire air pressure at or 2-3 psi above recommended seems to help mpg.

TreeFortRichard the reason the MPG is bad in winter, is the cold dense air. I bet if you save 60L of "winter fuel" and use it in the summer, your MPG will not change at all. Every car on the road gets "nailed" in the winter.

Did you guys notice any improvement after engine break in? I just started using fuelly but consistently I was anywhere from 15-18mpg combined since I bought my truck. past 3 tanks have started leveling out at high 17's, but still nowhere near 20. I'm only at 3400 mi, so I'm hoping to eventually see some improvement. Doesn't help I have to drive over a mountain range every day for work...

Mine has been pretty steady. I've found the trick with the MT is to keep the rev's down and don't drive faster than 70 mph.

I am guessing the 14.7:1 ratio is based on the 14.7psi or 29.92 in/Hg (barometric pressure) at 59 degrees Farhenheit at sea level ... or the aviators standard day

Trying to maintain the 14.7:1 target ratio isn't possible IMHO

I get between 20-21 mpg and I'm good with that

    +1

Winter gas is maybe 3% reduction, the biggest factor is cold everything. Takes more to push your car through dense air, cold oil and gear lube takes more work to move. People don't air up there tires so more rolling resistance. Engine takes longer to warm up, running defrost that is also running A/C. The list goes on, winter fuel small part of the blame.

2015 with a 6 speed here. I saw 16 to 20 in different conditions. 16 was either lots of city driving or driving at 80 mph. Under 2k rpm's and light throttle seems to be the trick. I knew the manual trans got worse MPG but went with it anyway.
