After two months of going back and forth between the Bak flip and fold-a-cover, I finally decided on the fold-a-cover G4 elite. I ordered it from the factory store for $820. Please nobody tell me I got ripped off:eek:. I chose the G4 because:

    - I could keep my factory rails
    - It opens front and back
    - Locks the cover and tailgate. I've heard the lock is kinda cheesy but I'm just trying to keep honest people honest.
    - The Bak flip seemed to rely on allot of exposed rubber, and in south Louisiana the sun is brutal on rubber.

I don't have shipping info yet, but I will be installing myself as soon as it gets here. Any install tips would be great. Thanks

Should of checked with Scott at Truckaddons who's a vendor here at TW. He probably could of given you a better price. I have a Bakflip and it hasn't held up over time.

Almost got the Bak flip. I really liked the low profile look it has.

Truckaddons.com doesn't sell Fold-a-cover any more. From what I can tell, Steffens automotive is the manufacturer & sole distributor of Fold-a-cover. I heard that they cut their distributors out & are just selling it themselves.

Congratulations on the purchase! I'm still trying to decide between the Fold-a-cover & the Bak. I've been mulling it over for a few weeks & I still can't decide.

The funny thing is that I just yanked my Bakflip off and bought a used silver camper shell with Yakima rack off CL yesterday. I am debating about painting it myself to keep the all black theme and see if I need to keep the Bakflip or not depending on if how I like the truck with a shell.

Put the rails on, but do not tighten anything down. Place the cover on the rails, straighten it out, then tighten everything down. I found it easier to loosen the latches the align them correctly.

Second that, our BAKFlip is now a goner after 6 yrs. I repaired it w/ fiberglass after about 3-4 yrs. to try to keep it together but the 2 rear sections are not disconnected from frame and held on only by rubber side strips... dangerous.

Looking for a replacement, the Roll-X sounds too expensive for our use (this is my wife's work truck, 4-5k mi./yr.), maybe a TonnoPro TriFold, maybe something else next, we'll see.

But I was disappointed in the BAKFlip's durability.

Leaning towards this cover. Have it narrowed down between g4 and undercover.

Please post after you have it installed.

I've had the cover for a couple months now. I made the right choice. The front opening comes in real handy, and it looks great. It didn't take too long to install at first, but getting it adjusted right took some time. I cut the rubber trim too much, so it leaks in heavy rain. The lock is more sturdy than I thought. Overall very happy with it.
