That color-matched Pro grill looks awful. You should give it to me. I'll even go above and beyond and give you my stock grill with the chrome surround in return.

its just 5100's (middle notch in front) and 1" blocks in the back. Really thinking about 2" rear springs with this camper. I hate having even a hint of squat on a truck.

    Are those stock sized KO2s?

I would go with Dakars in the rear. Something hefty to handle loads and the cap long term.

As others have said, great setup you have!

On a side note, what did you think of the Ram you had?

2nd one. Not a fan of it or the short bed, but it was already on the truck, and Toyota only makes the Off Road package on short beds. Yesterday we did a 290 mile trip with this one (2014 trd 4wd with the shell) and my other taco (2008 prerunner dclb, no camper, 150,000 miles). They have the same sized tires. 4.4 mpg difference between them. :( Really surprised (and disappointed) me. The 2008 prerunner (bone stock) leaves the 2014 like it has a supercharger.

265/ 70/ 17. Same size as on my '08 prerunner sport. Really common size and only slightly taller than stock.

Thats the same size I run.

So no issues with Taco lean with the billies set that high?

I'm getting ready to plan for my 3" lift.

So what your saying is the shell is creating worse gas mileage and slowing you down more than your 7 year old truck?

Fiberglass Caps are heavy, and the Tacoma powertrain in unforgiving when it cones to added weight.

I loved it, but the transmission issues reported spooked me a bit. If I had it to do over, I would prob have bought the Ram. Better mileage, WAY more power, better ride, quieter. I didn't care for the non-telescoping steering wheel. But that was about it.

Not knocking the taco. It is was it is....a small truck with small truck limitations. I guess over the years I've just grown so accustomed to the size and feel that everything else feels odd. I usually trade trucks every 3-4 years, but waited this time for the promise of improvement on the '16. Then I drove one for a weekend. Really only needed 10 minutes to know it wasn't something I'd be buying, but figured I'd give it a fair shot. The F-150 went to the top of my list, but gees those things are high. The ram actually felt better than the ford on a same-weekend trip. Rented one for a sat-sund trial and really liked it. Priced about the same as a new taco as well. But I ran across this 2014 and after having so many, I knew what would need to be fixed/ changed right off the bat. There's a certain comfort to having done something before. This one had the same vibration problems I've had with all of them, and I thought it would be the same as all the others. Most of it is gone, but some still remains. I'll get it worked out eventually.

It's not even close. I guess part of it could be the ever-so-slight lift, or the extra weight of being a 4wd vs a prerunner. But both trucks are stock, same gears, same tires, and had 3 same-sized occupants each. weight, shell, 4wd vs 2wd are the only real variables. I expected a difference, but not that much.

yes, it has a little lean, but its not that bad. 3/8-1/2" difference, drivers side low. doesnt really bother me.

The cap only weighs 167 pounds. I measured it. The '08 only losses about 1.5-2 mpg with a 750 pound yamaha grizzly in the back. I think a lot of it may be aerodynamics.

I know it sounds like I'm bashing my own truck, but I'm not. I still like it, and knew going in that some of this was to be expected. I bet this winter when we're off in the woods I'll absolutely love it. It rides stiffer than my Pre-runners, but in a good way. Part may be the 5100's, which im thinking I may put on the '08.
